The descriptive essay that I enjoyed most was Deep Cold” by Klinkenborg.

I preferred “Deep
Cold” because the essay completely captures all aspects of the cold, especially within a city or
home. The descriptions in the passage are extremely rich and vivid, making the reader feel
chills down their back. I learned that for an effective description, a writer must appeal to the five
senses and create a mental picture in the mind of the reader. The five senses allow the reader
to relate to the descriptions and reminisce about experiences in their own lives. In my opinion,
the most difficult part of writing this essay was attempting to think back on what makes fall
unique and how others can relate to my fall experiences. I am most proud of the imagery and
figurative language I was able to come up with when describing the season of fall.
