At the end of the lesson, the pre k pupils should be able to:
 Recognize the short letter “u” sound.
 Familiarize` words with letter “u”
 Classify the picture which starts with letter “u” and “o”.

II. Subject Matter: Reading- Beginning Short Vowel “u”.


III. Materials: video presentation, pictures, storybook and chart organizers.

A. Motivation
1. Sing the song “I Am Learning Letter U” song with action.

B. Presentation
1. Sing along with the video about short vowel “u”.
2. Activity: Sound and Cover
 The students will identify the picture of the thing that begins with letter “u”. Then, the student will
cover it using the red circle.

C. Development of the Lesson


1. Describe the short vowel “u” and ask the students if it is a vowel or consonant.
3. Sound out the short vowel “u” with the proper positioning of the mouth.
6. Ask the child to give examples of words which start with letter “u”.
4. Drill of two letter blending of consonants and short vowel “o”.

D. Generalization
 Let the students watch a video about letter blending of consonants and letter “u”.
E. Evaluation
Put a check on the syllable that will complete the word of each picture.

F. Valuing
 Importance of learning short vowel “u”.
