How free were blacks in the north?

From 1800 to 1830,as the institution of slavery in New york city withered and died, the
city witnessed the emergence of the North's single largest free black community a development
that made it easier for fugitive slaves to blend into the city. When north of new york city slavery
ended the south started to sale free blacks slaves. The slaves were freed and an epidemic
followed of kidnaping free blacks.especially children for sale in the south. They put nearly fifty
black men and women, children on to ships so they can be sailed to be auctioned.
Africans americans were pretty freed in the north because they were stopped from being
in slavery. But in the south they were sent and put to sail so they can be sold to white people so
they weren't so freed.People used to trade weapons for africans americans and for gold. The
south was the main part that africans americans were not so freed because family would be
taken away from people like kids and wifes and husbands. They would be owned to a white
family and they were made to do stuff that the owner tells them to do.So they were freed in the
north but they still would be caught and sailed to the south side to be sold.
The rules were changing. By 1826, only 16 black men in the city were able to cast a
ballot. The things that changed was that there was more freedom for africans in the
churches.some africans were not liking that in the south they were still not getting respect so
they started to come to the north because they saw that they were getting more freedom in the
churches and in different places. The blacks resident complained about the kidnapping that was
going on in the south.
There were people that didn't like that people were selling africans americans and they
were standing up for them even though they were right.People actually cared for the kidnaps
that were taking place in the southern part of new york city.People thought that racism was over
but no they were still some racism that were selling and killing african americans so they were
standing up for there right because africans were scared they would do stuff to them or take
their family away.Black children should not attend the same school as whites they were still
rules to be followed.
In conclusion they were very freed more than the south. In the south they were sold for
guns and money and didnt have a choice to be sold or not they were caught and white owners
would buy them. The blacks had gotten more right in the chruches and they coud speak there
mind and now say what they wanted to say. Some were scared that the whites will kill them or
there family if they said something the white man didnt like.Overall even though they were freed
in the norht they were not so freed in the south becasue there were still rules they had to follow.
