Center will play host to not only the Irish Roots


picnic in June and also several programs held in
the recently restored Celtic Hall, the former St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church. The picnic features a
train ride for kids, food, prizes, and a look into
genealogy.
The fairgrounds in Elnora will be buzzing
with entertainment for the whole family in June
when the Daviess County Fair takes over. Live
entertainment, food booths, carnival rides, exhibits
and a parade are all part of the festivities. If it’s
animals you are looking for, head to the Daviess
County 4-H Grounds in July for the annual 4-H
Show featuring projects from over 400 Daviess
County 4-H members.
Odon features one of the oldest festivals in the
state — the Old Settlers Festival — in August that
offers food vendors, carnival rides, a parade and
more.
Looking to buy a few animals, maybe a car
or some antiques? Don’t miss Dinky’s auction
on Friday evenings. Located in Daviess County’s
Amish country, Dinky’s features multiple auction
rings each Friday night as well as several special

sales throughout the year. While you’re
in Amish country, check out the annual
quilt auction the first weekend in
September or visit one of several Amish-
style restaurants.

Nearby is Martin County where

Scott St., Grouseland is open
for tours from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Monday through
Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Grouseland, the mansion built by William Henry Harrison when he served as the first governor of
