Week Eight – Filming

FILMING

What practical work have you done I learnt that I need to make sure that my characters are aware
this week - and how helpful was your when they need to be in costume as one day I was meant to be
earlier planning? filming I had to rearrange some things as one of my characters
wasn’t aware that I needed them to be in costume, it mis-
communication between me and the character. B planning my
filming beforehand I was able to get all my filming and reshoots
done pretty quick as my filming didn’t take so long, even after a
few takes. I have also practiced creating self-harm cuts on
myself so that I know what to do on the day of filming and it will
save time by being able to quickly create them allowing me to
have more time to film.

How will this be useful to you as your This has helped me to know that in further production to not ask
production process continues certain people to be in my production as it messed up my
filming and would’ve put me behind schedule if I continued to
use them in my production.
Upload behind the scenes pictures
and videos and comment on what
they show

This is a picture of the classroom we filmed in, this is where she

has to act like she’s ok when she’s really hurting and crying on
the inside.

This is the bedroom we filmed in, this is where Olivia can let out
all her pain and which is used to show how she feels on the
inside but has to cover all her feelings up and put a smile on her
face.

What issues did you encounter whilst The only issue I encountered was having to replace certain
out filming and how did you characters in my production as they caused me to become
overcome them? behind in my filming as all they did was mess around causing me
to not being able to get as much filming done as I anticipated
on the day. Another issue I encountered was that the timetable I
was given wasn’t always accurate as sometimes when I was
filming I often had teachers ask to use the classroom even
though the timetable I was given said that there wouldn’t be
any lessons at the times I chose to film. I didn’t really have a
choice but to just leave the classroom, although. Most of the
teachers were considerate in letting me film as much as I could
before they needed the classroom back. Another issue I
encountered was not having enough footage in a space on my
timeline so in order to resolve this I filmed a scene which fitted
well with the narrative and related back to the lyrics.

How suitable do you feel your I feel that my location were well suited to my music video, as the
locations were for your filming? classroom shows the audience how the character has to put a
smile on her face and act like everything’s ok when she’s at
school and around other, whereas when she’s in her room or at
home she can let all her pain out and show the audience how
she really feels, so she doesn’t have to hold it all in by putting a
smile on her face.

How have you made use of the I have used a lot more camera angles and editing techniques in
technical skills you have developed so my final project, ones that go well with my narrative and as a
far this year? whole. I think I have developed myself a lot since the beginning
of the year and especially in my past productions, I can now
confidently set up a tripod myself and I’m starting to get more to
grips with editing as well. I have used many close-ups as part of
my music video to capture the characters facial expressions, this
was also part of the genre codes and conventions as pop music
videos tend to include a lot of close-ups and wide shots which I
have also included in my production.

Having reviewed your footage, are After reviewing my footage, I am pretty pleased with how it
you happy with what you have turned out, I only had to reshoot a couple of scenes and film a
captured and does anything need bit extra to fill in spaces on my timeline. Besides that, I am
reshooting? pleased with how my filming has turned out.

Are you ready to edit? If not, how far Yes, I am ready to edit.
behind are you?

What work do you need to complete Just need to complete some written work outside of class which
outside of lessons to stay on track? I can do in my freetime.
