How We Build a Part of The

Plane
Step by Step
What the plans look like

*The steps
included in
the
presentation
are not
exactly what
is written on
the plans.
Step 1:
Trim the W-1222-L wing
extension so that it fits
onto the wing.
Step 2, Part 1:
Drill with a #30 bit the
forward and aft two holes
into the upper flange and
the forward wing tip ribs.
Cleco the extensions to
the wing tip.
Step 2, Part 2:
Remove the extensions
and clear any drill chips.
Deburr the holes.
Step 2, Part 3:
Cleco the extension back
onto the wing. Drill with a
#30 bit all the hole
locations into the lower
flange and into the wing
tip close out.
Step 3:
Make sure that the mount
bracket fits into the holes
that we drilled.
Step 4:
Modeling clay
Fill the area where the nut will
be placed with modeling clay.
Cover the wing tip with a
release agent so the wing
extension can come off after
the flox dries. Mix 2-3 fluid oz.
of flox/epoxy resin and fill the
cavities of the wing extension
with it. Cleco the extensions
to the wing tip and clean up
any of the mixture that
squeezed out.
Step 5:
Wait until the flox has set
up to remove the
extension from the wing
tip. Take out the
modeling clay.
