Week Nine – Editing

EDITING

How did you find the editing process?
I found the editing process good but there were some
challenges, when I was adding in my effects they didn’t
always turn out how I wished they did, I then asked for help
from teachers which helped me as it made my effects look
how I intended and made my production as a whole look
good. Overall I found the editing process easy as it didn’t take
me long to do.

What skills did you have to
learn/develop during the editing
process?
I haven’t been confident in editing in my past productions, but
I learnt how to use new edits, which I used to make my
production look interesting and attractive to the audience. I
have never used masking or an overlay of scenes, but by
learning how to do it has helped me as I can now use it in
further productions to make my video look attractive. I also
used video to help me with using my effects and how to
create the self-harm cute and make them look realistic on
camera.

This shows how I slowed down the pace of the shot to male it
have more emphasis on the audience.
 This is how I used masking to create the
sense that she has died at the end as the
light comes in that’s when she has died, it
shows how she goes towards the light.

What issues did you have to
overcome whilst editing? How did you
move past them?
I struggled with the overlay effect getting it to overlay at the
right time on the shot I overcame this by asking a teacher to
help me with this. I also struggled with getting the masking to
adjust to her head so that it doesn’t show her completely
being black and white, I also asked a teacher to help me with
this as it was the ending shit which would impact the
audience the most as that’s how they will remember the video
how it ended, leaving the audience wondering whether or not
she died.

Have you identified any scenes which I had to re-shoot scenes which had some of the classmates in
need re-shooting? Will you be able to as I had to replace them as they were causing me to become
do this? behind on filming as the messed around too much, I have
already replaced them and re-shot the scenes I needed to.

Are you on track this week? If not, Yes I am on track for this week, I just have some written work I
how far behind are you? need to complete.

What work do you need to complete Written work and my feedback which I can do outside of
outside of lessons to stay on track? college.
