Christ’s Centred Outlook in Life

1 Peter 1:3-5
Introduction
Knowing that we are chosen by God, it gave us hope and strength to persevere amidst any
difficulties!
We are chosen not because of who we are and what we have done, we are just chosen out of
God’s grace!
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of
the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. 5 He destined us in love to be his
sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, - Ephesians 1:3-5
God cares for you and me. He wants to purify us.
Two results that Hardships can give us; it will either
Break us or Make us!
Either
Growth or Bitterness!

Actually our response in the situation will determine the Result.

Pakisabi sa katabi mo, Your response in your situation, will determine the result?
Why? Because again, it is your choice, kung pipillin mo na sa kabila ng mahirap ng situation na
meron ka ay pipillin mo maging Better Person or Bitter Person!
Paki tingnan nga yung mukha ng katabi kung mukha ba yang better or bitter!
The Point is, our situations are just a moments of time!
Nasa atin kung pipiliin na oovertake tayo ng situation or we will trust God that through this
situation we can overcome it through Him!
Tingnan natin yung passage na pagaaralan natin, today!

Our topic is entitled, Christ’s Centred Outlook in Life

1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you, 5
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.

I. The FOCUS: GOD

Peter starts will an exclamation of Praise!
“Blessed be the God!” sa original language ay Bless God o sa panahon natin ngayon mas
naririnig natin ay “Praise God!”
If I were to ask you, as Christians, tuwing kalian natin nababanggit ang mga katagang ito?
 Kapag? Kapag maganda ang nangyayari sa buhay natin! Tama?
sinasabi natin?
- Ok lang yan!
- Kaya mo yan!
- Tara, inom
Anu ang problem sa ganyang kaisipan?
Pero iba si Peter, instead of looking into their own selves, instead of looking in the situations
The Focus must be on Our GOD!
Praise GOD! Peter directed the attention to GOD!
BECAUSE GOD IS GOOD AND HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!
Same with our any situations, stop looking into your self KUNG obvioulsly wala ka na magagawa
jan!
Stop looking into your hard situations! Kung miserable eh miserable talaga but if our FOCUS is
on our GOD! What we all can see His Beauty inspite of Ugly situations na meron tayo!

Because who is GOD?

He is Faithful, - Hinding hindi Niya tayo pababayaan.
He is Just, - His justice is perfect!
10 Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
11 Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to
him. – Isaiah 3:10-11
He is Powerful, - He is above any difficult situations that we have
He is Gracious, - His grace abounds in our lives! He is always ready to forgive and give us
chance!
He is Sovereign, - He is in control!
He is Holy, - He sent His Son
He is Loving, - He loves us unconditionally
He is Merciful, - His Mercy is great so great!
1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you, 5
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.
Anu ang kaibihan ng Grace sa Mercy?
Grace – We don’t deserve Heaven and yet it was given to us
Mercy – We don’t deserve Hell and yet and it was not given to us.

Same with God’s Mercy, it is so great and abounding!
It changes everything!
It should move us into a great debt of gratitude

II. The FEATURES: What he has done for us

Aside from, we Praise GOD because of Who He is…

We Praise God because of what He has done for us and continue doing for us.
1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you, 5
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.
Here are the reasons why Blesses be the GOD and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. First,

a) He made us born again

Ephesians 2:1-7
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power
of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—
3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the
body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
(Anung word ang napansin mo? That was our nature bago natin nakilala si Hesus)
Enumerate those

 Following the world

 Following Satan (Prince of the air, kaya mag ingat tayo sa tinturo natin sa taas, baka iba
tinuturo natin, ok!)
 Sinful nature
 Children of Wrath (People who deserves hell)
Pero anu ang ginagawa ng Diyos?
4 But God, being rich in mercy because of the great love with which he loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our trespasses made us alive together with Christ (Born Again)
— by grace you have been saved—
6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness
toward us in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be ἀναγεννάω to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you, 5
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.
Greek word: ἀναγεννάω (anagennaō) means “to give new birth,”
Used in the sense of spiritual rebirth, similar to being born again/from above.
It was accomplished once and for all act and has a continues effect
Illustration: Same with Physical Growth

It marks a significant changed in status and out looked, and denotes the creation
in believers of a new and divine life.
Explain: a changed life – New Status
Transition: Second reason why we should Praise God!
1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you, 5
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.

b) He has given us a Living Hope

It was made possible through the death of Jesus Christ. (Expound)
1 Corinthians 15:19-20a
19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But in fact if Christ has been raised from the dead
Explain verse

Because of Christ resurrection, we have now a Living Hope! Jesus said,

19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you
also will live. – John 14:19

Therefore we don’t fear death! At the same time we have hope after death!
1 Corinthians 15:55-58
55 ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ g
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give
yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in
vain.

We have hope in Jesus Christ!

Transition: Yan yung pag-asang hindi paasa! Because of that Hope we Praise GOD! Thirdly,
 Kailan nakukuha yung mana?

1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading kept in heaven for you,
5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.

c) He has given us an inheritance

 Reserved in heaven
 Secured and Assured in heaven
 It’s characteristics are excellent in nature
 The object of our hope is our heritance
(What is our inheritance? The Glory of Christ)
