FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Meet and greet your students with a smile.

I. Introduction

Good morning class! (With a smile) Now, may I request everybody to stand for a
prayer? (One of the students leads the prayer)

Hello class! My name is Cheryl V. Marcus (the teacher will write her name on the
board) and I will be your Understanding culture and Politics in a society/
Organization and Management teacher this semester. I am hoping that our year
will be full of fun and exciting activities that I know you will enjoy, and I am
confident that we will have a wonderful year together. Now, I am going to check
your attendance first. If your name is called please sit on your respective chair for
you will be arranged alphabetically. The first name to be called, please sit on the
first chair in front and the rest will follow. Are we clear? (Yes teacher)

(The teacher checks the attendance)

II. Ice Breaker Activity: Two Truths and a Lie -Focus:

Getting to Know One Another! Go around the group and have everyone say
two true statements about themselves and one false. The rest of the students will
guess which one is false. After guessing the participant will reveal what is false
about her/him. And after that, the participant will choose who will be the next
participant.

III. Who I am:

This time class, we will have another activity. This activity is called “Who I am”
game. I want you to get ¼ sheet of paper and write what is your hobbies, interests,
favorite TV show, favorite actress/actor, crush, sports team, motto in life etc. Please
don’t forget to write your name, okay! I am going to write also mine. Okay! Are you
done class? (Varied answers) If that so, then pass your papers. Now, I am going to
read my “who I am” note here. (The teacher reads her work) So! I’m done reading
mine! This time I want one student to pick one paper here, the name that will be
chosen will come here in front and will read his/her work. (The teacher will only let 5
students to read their work)
IV. Setting of Classroom Rules

Since, we are done introducing ourselves. It’s time for us set our classroom rules.
What are the rules that you want to be implemented in our class? Any suggestions?
(Turn off gadgets during classes’ hours’ teacher) Okay! What else? (No Smoking
teacher) Great suggestion! How about the others? (No bullying teacher). All of your
suggestions will be included in our rules but since you have your rules I have also
mine. (The teacher will put tarpaper on the wall which contains the house rules)
Okay! Everybody read!

Since, we already have classroom rules class. This time, what will be the
punishment/penalty to those students who will be caught violating our rules? (Warning
teacher) Okay! Ist offense is warning, 2nd you will be reprimanded and 3rd offense you will be
reported to the principal. Is that clear? (Yes teacher)

V. Election of class officers

This time class, we will have an election for our class officers. Okay! The table is now
open for the nomination of president. (The students will nominate some of their
classmates the winner for the position of classroom president will take over)

VI. Groupings of Cleaners

Since, we are done choosing our officers. I am going to group you into five for our
classroom cleaners. Count 1 to 5. (After counting) All number 1 stand! (The students
follow what the teacher says) Choose your leader. (And so on…..)
Okay! That’s all for today class! Nice meeting you all! I am hoping that you will
behave accordingly in our following meetings! Now, please stand for a prayer! May
I request our class president to lead our closing prayer? (The student follows what
the teacher says) Okay! Goodbye class!
