Marriage, also known as matrimony, is a sacrament in the Catholic Church, it is the

union of one male to one female in order to come closer to God and is the appropriate venue in
which to bear children. Marriage is a sacred covenant between each spouse with each other
and with God.
Based on the wedding I witnessed last December, their marriage is quiet simple but
meaningful. They vow each other in front of the altar and oath to live till the end of their life. I
also heard that they are now one body since God blessed them as one, from properties,
decisions, and others that they need to their lives, they should act as one.
It shows in church ceremony that marriage unites a couple in faithful and mutual love,
marriage opens a couple to giving life, marriage is a way to respond to God’s call to holiness,
marriage calls the couple to be a sign of Christ’s love in the world. The Father also stated that
they should make God as the center of their life as a couple to have successful and happy lives
together.
It made me realized that matrimony is a sacred thing which opens big responsibility as
husband and wife as well as to their future children. It should be kept no matter what even in
the ripples of struggles and problems in their life. A one body can’t be separated by anything
because it is already sealed by God, unless the couple are willing to give up their vow to God
but it is considered as heavy sin.
