Day 1 program (10th April, 2019)

Joined TOI (Times Of India) on 10th April, 2019 for the Summer Internship Program which will
continue till 60 days. I reached SN Banerjee Road(The Economic Times and Times Of India) at
10:30 am which is the older office of TOI and they briefed me about the organization and then I
met my TOI Mentor Mr. Deba Priyo Chakraborty. He explained me all the works which I have
to do next 59 days.
Day 2 program (11th April, 2019)

Depot Visit
I reached Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand at 6 am and met with Mr. Lokesh Jha, The Assistant Manager of TOI
who guided me the whole distribution process that how newspapers depot from Printing Press to different
areas of Kolkata.

Here are some points which are explained by Mr. Lokash Jha :

Depot Time – 5 am
Collecting News – 5pm onwards and 12 am printing process will start.

Newspapers reached to Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand– (Times Of India – 500, ET Samay – 400, Economic
Times – 300)

Price Details

 Earlier rate of TOI – Rs. 3.30

 New Rate fixed after 1st August, 2018 – Rs. 4
 TOI – (Mon-Sat) Rs. 4
(Sunday) Rs. 5
 Economic Times – (Mon-Fri) Rs. 3
(Sat-Sun) Rs. 10
 ET Samay – (Mon-Fri) Rs. 4
(Sat-Sun) Rs. 5
Vendors

 Registered Vendors – 180

 Vendors get 30% commission on selling newspapers.
 On a daily basis Vendors pay and take papers from Distributors and distributors maintain a record
of all the Vendors (all payment records of each and every paper).
 There is no age limit for Vendors.

Competitors

 English – The Telegraph

 Bengla – Bardhaman, Anandabazar Patrika

Note – Distributors do not pay any amount (tax) to sell at footpath.
