 1. PURPOSE
This Project Definition Document provides a brief overview of Application software for management of Logistic
Company to promote a shared understanding of it before a more detailed Plan, Schedule, and Budget is
prepared.

2. PROBLEM
The web based “Airline Reservation System” Project is an attempt to stimulate the basic concepts of airline
reservation system. The system enables the customer to do the things such as search for airline flights for two
travel cities on a specified date, choose a flight based on the details, reservation of flight and cancellation of
reservation.

The system allows the airline passenger to search for flights that are available between the two travel cities,
namely the “Departure city” and “Arrival city” for a particular departure and arrival dates. The system displays all
the flight’s details such as flight no, name, price and duration of journey etc.
After search the system display list of available flights and allows customer to choose a particular flight. Then
the system checks for the availability of seats on the flight. If the seats are available then the system allows the
passenger to book a seat. Otherwise it asks the user to choose another flight.
To book a flight the system asks the customer to enter his details such as name, address, city, state and Credit
card number and contact number. Then it checks the validity of card and book the flight and update the airline
database and user database. .

3. PROJECT GOAL
To develop fully automated software that solve any managerial difficulty i.e. It gives every information about the
seat position including the accommodated personnel, it also provide fully automated billing of the personnel.

4. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
 Maintaining safe records.

 Project will be completed through recruitment of a professional team and the provision of good quality
custom-designed travel packages, catering to the client's particular needs.
 Designing a user interactive interface of application.
 Creation of an efficient algorithm that has Flight Schedules, Ticket Prices and fuel accountability
features in it.
 Minimizing errors of the information recorded in the system while entering to the system.
 Achieve maximum functionalities that are cost and time effective.

5. PROJECT SCOPE
 The developed system will facilitate online booking.
 Displays a detailed list of available flights and make a "Reservation" or Book a ticket on a particular
flight.
 Cancel an existing Reservation.
 Keep customer records.
 Flight destinations and their prices.
 Provides an online menu on flight schedules.
 Show alternative links to other partner airlines and will have page dedicated to customer queries and
replies

  Does not allow the customer to modify a particular part of his reservation.
 Does not provide the customers with details of cost of the ticket.

7. OUTCOMES
Project is a success given that the system brings ease in managing records of information regarding employees
and reduces financial risk in the business. Also improves the management of resources like time and money.

8. ASSUMPTIONS AND CONSTRAINTS

8.1 Assumptions
 Weather conditions remain ideal.

8.2 Constraints
 With a larger database of content it's very hard to improve time complexities.
 Application may not respond to requests in a timely manner only if there is load on server
 Passenger cannot transfer his/her reservation from one flight to another flight.

 End users are moderately committed to use the project.
 Requirements are fully understood
 The project team is inexperienced with the technology to be implemented
 All customer constituencies do not agree on the importance of the project to be built.
