At the end of the discussion, the learners should be able to:

B. construct declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences
C. develop a genuine love for reading, listening, writing and speaking

Today we’ll move on to our new
lesson which will be in relation to our
feelings or emotions. So we are going to
sing the song which we are all familiar
with- it is entitled The Greatest Love of All.

Okay, class. Now, what can you say about Ma’am, even though the song is very short; I guess
the song? What does the writer believe in? it’s full of emotions.

How could you say so, Macario? Because I noticed that the song has a lot to do with
our love for children or mother to her daughter,
father to his son. It has something to do with our
love for our family, that’s the greatest love of all.
That was a very good explanation, Macario.
You know what class, the song simply tells
us that we should always consider for us to
keep our family or relationship with others
intact.

B. Presentation of the Lesson

Okay. So our lesson for today is all about


the different kinds of sentences. I have here
four sentences and I need four volunteers
to read these with emotion or feeling.
1. The boy goes to school. (Read)
2. Why are you crying? (Read)
3. Kindly give me a piece of bread. (Read)
4. Gosh, this is beautiful! (Read)

Okay. Thank you class.


Sentences are classified according to their
uses. They have four kinds or types. And
the first kind of a sentence is what we call
declarative sentence.

May I request Love to read what A declarative sentence tells something about a
declarative sentence is? person, thing, place or event. Take note, it usually
ends with a period. Also, it makes a statement.

1. This bag is mine.
2. Mario is playing basketball.

The last type of a sentence is what we call It expresses strong feelings or emotions such as
exclamatory sentence. Kindly read. anger, sorrow, grief, surprise, or the like. It
apparently ends with an exclamation point.

2. Wow, it’s incredible!

C. Practice
Group Activity
(Divide the class into four groups)

Instruction: Each group will give sample


sentences in each type through short
(1min) drama presentation
based on the setting they will pick from the
aquarium. You will be given 5 minutes to
prepare.

Your time starts now. (The pupils are working together on their
assigned task with their group)
The time is over.
Now let’s hear from group 1(2, 3 & 4)…

Generalization
What are the four types of sentences? The four types of sentences are Declarative,
Interrogative, Imperative and Exclamatory
Sentence.

What is Declarative Sentence? It tells something about a person, place, thing, or


event. It ends with a period.

What is Interrogative Sentence? It asks questions. It ends in question mark.

What is Imperative Sentence? It issues a command or expresses a request. Its


two kinds are request and command. A request
uses please or kindly while Command is like giving
an order.

What is Exclamatory Sentence? It expresses strong feelings or emotions. It ends


with an exclamation point.

IV. EVALUATION

Instructions: On a ½ sheet of paper, copy the following sentences. Identify each of the following sentences
as declarative, imperative, interrogative, or exclamatory. Write your answer on the blank before each
number.
