TAHOE

If you’re someone who finds Lake Tahoe as a place to build upon your character and find
peace within yourself you have found the right podcast. Today, you’re here with Luke Giusto
and I wanted to talk about a place that isn’t only special to me, but to so many other people as
well. I I am here today to talk about Lake Tahoe and why so many people visit there. This place
has always been part of me and I feel like it has such a deeper meaning as to its title and what it
has to offer. I have been visiting here for years and each year I discover something new about
myself. I would like to discuss it’s meaning and values that certain people attribute to it and why
people visit Tahoe. After a lot of research and time spent there, I found the answer to my
research question as to why people chose Tahoe. The answer was very simple - Tahoe serves as
an escape from the stresses of life and a place where you can vacation, adventure and relax.
While I researched I wanted to figure out what's so special about being up there deep in your
own thoughts and ultimately having space to create within your own ideas. It is somewhere
where you can be free to get away from the society you live in that might be overwhelming. Just
like any other person I'm someone who likes my space and my privacy and Tahoe is that place
for me. When I think of a place where I can go find peace and quiet with the sense of feeling at
home as well, Tahoe is the first place that comes to mind because of its nature, community and
environment. After researching, I found a website, The Tahoe Journal.com, which is an online
magazine that is by and for “Lake Tahoe’s new generation of ambitious, creative locals.” This
site is here to “keep us entertained, informed, and best of all—laughing!” This website is full of
insightful information about Tahoe’s places, culture and beauty. Another great source that
provides excellent resources is Tahoe Magazine. This magazine serves as a platform to give you
a deeper understanding about Lake Tahoe and its region. Before you might chose to adventure up
to Tahoe, check out these sites as they will help in guiding you into creating your own unique
personal experience.

It's amazing to me yearly how many people actually travel up to Tahoe whether it's to ski,
snowboard, hang out on the lake, or even just visit friends and family. I'm fortunate enough to
live in Northern California, more precisely the East Bay, where Tahoe is only about a three-hour
drive from my house. The reason I picked this topic as something I wanted to discuss with others
is because I know and understand that Tahoe isn't just a place that is special and unique to me.
Many people find this place as a getaway from the “real world”. Although I go up there to find
peace and isolation for myself, I found out that others do the same. As I mentioned before this is
a place where I can be inside my own head and to visualize my own thoughts so that I can try
and live in the moment. Lake Tahoe provides nourishment for my own health and for my well-
being as I strive to be the best person that I can in this world.
As I was visiting, I was able to fully understand that this why some people visit here as
well. I was able to notice that many people who walk in the streets are either comfortable
because it is their second home in which they're staying at or they were not familiar with the
scene as they are in uncharted territory. I noticed that the small cafes, diners, thrift shops and
even local markets all contribute to what makes Tahoe special. As I sat there, outside on a
rugged, brown, log bench I noticed how nice it was outside, yet how cold it was. The last
memory I had of this place was when I was here last June for my senior trip with my best
friends. We stayed at the cabin nearby in Carnelian Bay. This is when I felt on top of the world
because I forgot about everything. The only things that were on my mind were my family,
friends and happiness. Now fast forward to me being here now looking out into the sky noticing
all the trees around me, the parking lots, the cars and the variety of people walking down the
streets. That is when I noticed that I can't say whether or not someone is here for specific reason,
not even for myself. Everyone has their own stories and their own backgrounds and while
visiting here twice in the past two weeks I've noticed that you don't need to have a reason to go
to Tahoe. You, yourself, or anyone can go visit whenever you want whether it’s to adventure,
experience, even go on a trip with your friends or by yourself.

In conclusion, people choose Tahoe because they want a change or a break from the
world they live in. To many it is a second home or even their actually home. With this I hope you
guys have learned that Tahoe in itself has its own identity and whether you choose to go up there
or not you, yourself are adding and creating to your own identity. Tahoe is a place that attracts a
variety of people and has something do for everyone no matter what season you like best. Thank
you for listening and I invite you to check Tahoe out one day if you haven’t, or try to visit more
for you own peace mind. Take a break for the busy life around us and relax in your own thoughts
up northeast in Tahoe. Thank you for listening.
