Design of TLSO
The most rigid design is a custom-molded total contact TLSO, sometimes
referred to as a body jacket. It is prescribed for maximum restriction of flexion,
extension, and rotation.
The orthosis is usually bivalved, and Velcro straps attach the anterior and
posterior halves. The jacket is molded to firmly fit the pelvis below and may
extend anteriorly to the manubrium of the sternum and posteriorly to the
midportion of the scapula.
A rigid, total contact TLSO is particularly indicated for unstable fractures of the
spine when surgical stabilization is not indicated or when the adequacy of the
surgical stabilization is in question.
First we make the electrical wire zigzag like structure then cover by the sponge
and attached to the cloth.
Our TLSO seems like a waist coat and support from the shoulder to the lower
back posteriorly and the chest and the abdomen anteriorly.
It has three horizontal strap through abdomen and two sling that comes from
posterior to anterior through shoulder for the purpose of suspension.
