Monolingual term marking

Term definition
In this project we understand "terms" as noun phrases (a phrase where the main
word is a noun), a set of modifiers with complete meaning and a narrow range of
verbal phrases. The length of a valid term is 2 -4 words.
Thus, project participants need to sort out such terms as:

 product names: red velvet dress, mobile phone case, fast charging cable;
 product modifiers: slim fit, running hicking, round neck, auto wake sleep, male to
dual female;
 marketing phrases: hot selling, etc.
 brand names: samsung galaxy, xiaomi red mi;
 names of people, places and organizations, etc.: one piece, breakfast at tiffany's,
back to the future;
 ordinary noun phrases: cute kitten, targaryen dragon, early education.

Marking stages
The project will be divided into 2 stages:

1. Sorting out valid terms out of overall data pool.

2. Fixing invalid terms and producing additional terms out of valid terms from
stage 1.

Stage 1 procedure
Participants need to check source text and compare its meaning to the meaning in
the reference title. If source text is valid by itself and has the same meaning in the
reference title context, than it is considered a term and should be marked as "OK".
All of the rest should be logged as "Discarded".

Stage 2 procedure

Producing additional terms

Source texts that were marked as OK in stage 1, will be arrange for additional term
production.
To produce an additional term, add words that stand right next to the term (before
or after it in the title) in a row. The length of a complete term cannot exceed 4
words.

e.g.
source: cartoon animal
title: Girls Sailor Moon Luna cat Pajamas Cartoon Sleapwear Cool
Summer Cartoon Animal Pajamas for Woman

Term source text contain 2 words, which means we can use up to 2 words to
produce a new one. Words "Summer" and "Pajamas" stand right next to the term in
the title, adding "Summer" and "Pajamas" to both sides will produce a new term ->
"summer cartoon animal pajamas".
In case of 2 word source text, if to produce a new term either 1 or 2 w ords can be
added, always add 2 words.
NOTE: additional terms can be produced only by adding words and priority always
go to a longer term.

Fixing discarded terms

Source texts that were discarded in stage 1, will be arranged for correction.
To fix source texts either add words according to procedure described above to
complete incomplete source texts or delete words that caused the discarding due to
an issue. Do not simply correct issues in source texts.
If the term has more than one phrase and some words are needed to be deleted, or
a word with an issue needs to be deleted, we can only deleted words on the sides
of the term - 1 or 2 words in the beginning or in the end, or 1 from each side. The
lengths of a fixed term cannot be less than 2 words.

e.g.
source: chair cover hotel

The word "hotel" in the term source text is unnecessary and should be deleted.
(Adding "wedding" would not be correct as the new term would still consist of 2
phrases).
e.g.
source: sport shoes feminino
corrected term: sport shoes

NOTE:

1. If a term can be fixed both ways, by adding or by deleting words, the priority
should go to adding words.
 2. If there more than one way to delete words, either way is correct. In cas e of
a 4 word source text, when either 1 or 2 words can be deleted, delete 1.
Priority always goes to a longer term.

Out of context "prime case" means "important incident", while in the context it is
phone case for Redmi Prime.
"Stone skull" means "skull made of stone" but in the context it is "earrings with
stone and skull".

In above examples Frida Kahlo and Bosideng are proper names (artist and brand
names respectively) and can be accepted as terms, while "fotographia"" and "crepe"
are ordinary foreign language nouns and thus should be discarded.

1. It contains duplicated words or repetition of words that are close in meaning.

Is source text and modifiers and product nouns can be duplicated or
repeated, they also can be duplicated in abbreviated/full form. All of the
should be discarded.
