Precautions, warnings and suggestive description
To avoid the possibility of damage, be sure to comply with the following safety
instructions during maintenance of this instrument
1) The monitor contains some internal parts that can be repaired by the users, but it
should be performed by technical service persons that had been authorized by the
manufacturer.
2) The monitor is not classified as therapy equipment and shall not be used at
home.
3) Some mother parameters of the monitor can resist defibrillator. The defibrillation
not touch the patient, hospital beds and the instrument.
4) Before cleaning or repairing of the instrument, make sure the power supply is cut
off.
5) Check the reusable accessories regularly to see if they are damaged, such as the
sensor and the cables.If necessary, replace and dispose them properly as medical
waste accessories.
6) Warning: Do not use under flammable gas such as anesthetic, as there will be a
risk of explosion.
7) Warning: Do not dispose the batteries in a fire as they may explode.
8) Warning: Never touch signal input or output connector and patients in the same
time.
9) Caution: The instrument must be performed by authorized and qualified service
engineers.

10) Caution: This instrument is designed for continuous work, and drip-proof
closure devices, pls take care to avoid splashing water.
11) Caution: Keep the instrument clean, and avoid oscillation.
12) Caution: Do not do high-temperature sterilization process or use electron beam
and γ radiation sterilization.
13) Caution: Electromagnetic interference - Ensuring that the use of the
environment is away from the strong electromagnetic interference, such as radio
transmitters or mobile phones and other interference.
14) Caution: Before use it, the user must check the device to make sure it does not
significantly affect safety of the patient or have any equipment damage.
15) Caution: The following safety checking must be performed by properly trained
person, who has knowledge and practical experience. Usually, it should be checked
once a year or once a month or less. If you find obvious damage, we recommend you
to replace the damaged parts before using it.
16) Do testing according to the inspection procedures of the public institution.
17) Check the device for mechanical and functional damage.
18) Make sure the safety-related labels are easily identifiable.
19) Verify that the function of the device is consistent with the description of the
manual.
20 ) Caution:After the effective lifetime, the instrument shoulb be returned to the
manufacturer for recycle use in accordance with local regulations.
21 ) Caution: After use ,the battery in accordance with local regulations for proper
disposal.
22 ) Caution: If the instrument is not used in a long time , be sure to remove the
battery in time.
23 ) Caution: The battery should be stored in a cool and dry environment .
24 ) Caution:Do not put the metal objects together with the battery in storage, to
avoid accidental short circuit.
25 ) Caution:In the premise of meeting the needs of the clinical, we recommend
that ultrasonic irradiation time of the patient should be as short as possible .
26 ) Caution:When the instrument is moved from a cold environment to a warm
and humid place, do not use it immediately.
27 ) Caution : Keep the operating environment no vibration, no corrosion, no
combustible material , and avoid excessively high or low temperature and
humidity

28 ) Caution:If the instrument becomes wet or there is condensation water, stop

operation.
29 ) Caution:The antenatal fetal monitor is designed firm, anti-fall seismic, and
meet clinical needs for complex work. However, users should be careful when use it ,
in particular, the ultrasound probe is a ceramic chip , and can not throw touch and
should avoid surface scratches.
30 ) Caution: Water-based ultrasound gel is recommended, as oil-based ultrasound
gel may damage the surface of the probe, so oil-based ultrasound gel should be
prohibited.
31 ) Caution: After each use , remove the ultrasound gel on surface of the ultrasonic
probe. Clean the probe and machine by damp cloth with mild disinfectant or
detergent.
32 ) Caution: Use a soft cloth moistened with a solution of sodium hypochlorite
1000ppm for disinfection.
33 ) Caution: The machine and probe and other components can not be sterilized
through steam .
34 ) Caution: The pressure probe is non- waterproof , do not use ultrasound gel, and
should be absolutely avoided inflow of various liquids .
35 ) Caution: The power cord must be inserted at three-wire outlet , do not remove
the ground , do not use bad socket ;
36 ) Caution: After use , to prevent the break, do not make the cable wrapped
around the probe.
37 ) Caution: During monitoring, do not turn off the volume, as fetal heart tone is
very important to need to be careful to hear it: the accuracy of fetal heart rate is
controlled by the device and can not be adjusted by the user . If the fetal heart rate
results unreliable , use other methods such as using a stethoscope to verify , or
contact your local dealer or manufacturer for help.

Chapter 1 General Introduction

Fetal monitor is a bran-new, well-designed monitor, which greatly facilitates
medical staff and pregnant women, as is easy to operate, making the daily monitoring
work easier, efficient and cost becomes lower.
BLT-F90 Fetal monitor applies to external monitoring. It contains a FHR probe, a
TOCO probe, a SpO2 probe, a blood pressure cuff, one ECG cable, a temperature
probe and a FM button for the pregnant woman. Its performance is in line with the
latest world standards. The entire machine design is simple, reliable and friendly use.
1.1 The main features
Display: 12.1” TFT-LCD

Fetal heart rate, uterine pressure, fetal activities monitoring data and curves, fetal
signs, doctors event flag, time, alarm status display in the same screen.
While it is detecting the fetal parameters, such as the fetal heart rate, uterine pressure,
fetal activities, it can also monitor mother's ECG, noninvasive blood pressure, oxygen
saturation, pulse, respiration, body temperature, at the same time.
With the built-in twins function modules, it can realize twins monitoring function
with an extra fetal monitoring probes.
With the unique function to identify the normal range of fetal heart, the monitoring
curve can be apprehended at a glance.
The automatic monitoring mode allow users to set up parameters of working mode
according to their personalized habit.
To improve monitoring sensitivity, it can support clinical event identification, and
identification of fetal stimulator action.
With the functions to store and playback the monitoring data, users can store and
manage the historical data.
With the built-in thermal recorder and 152mm Z type printing paper, users can print
in real-time, or print the historical reviewing data, and can also print with regular
time.

With the optional CTG evaluation module, users can print the evaluation result in
real-time and in segmented, for users’ analysis and reference.
With the built-in network interface, it can connect to the central station.
With built-in pluggable and rechargeable lithium battery.
Sound and light alarms in three levels, and the alarm volume is adjustable.
1.2 Operational principle
BLT-F90 fetal monitor detect fetal heart rate by non-invasive doppler ultrasound.
We know that a certain frequency of the ultrasonic obstacles encountered in the
dissemination of reflection to occur, if the object is stationary, then the reflected wave
frequency and the transmitted wave at the same frequency, once the movement of
objects, the reflected frequency will change, and the greater the rate of movement of
objects , the greater the change in frequency, this effect is called the doppler effect. So
when we put the ultrasound probe on the maternal abdomen, the fetal heart beat
ultrasonic probe with respect to movement, the transmitted wave after reflection
across the heart generates frequency offset, from which we can calculate the fetus
heartbeat frequency per minute.
To get the SpO2 and pulse rate of pregnant women, through the red light from LED
and infrared light emitted by the outer periphery of the body parts, it can detect the
pulse wave generated by pulsating arterial blood flow caused by changes in light
absorption by the photoelectric detection circuit, and detect the light absorption rate
before and after pulsing, then we can calculate the SpO2 accordingly. Therefore, if
there is no pulsing or pulsing of pregnant women is too weak, the measurement can
not be performed.
The monitor has the noninvasive blood pressure measurement by Oscillometry,
namely an inflatable cuff occlusion of the arteries, blood flow is blocked, the cuff is
deflated start and detect blood vessels appear systolic, mean and diastolic blood
pressure, its accuracy is better than Korotkoff, and invasive blood pressure monitoring
were positively correlated.

Chapter 4 Maintenance
4.1 Transport
To meet clinical use, design of the fetal monitor is very strong, but we nee to use it
with caution, and pay attention to maintenance, especially the ultrasound probe is a
ceramic chip, collision is not allowed.
4.2 Maintenance
In addition to cleaning, there is no additional maintenance for the fetal monitor.

Keep the outer surface of the instrument clean and no dust. Clean the outer surface of
the instrument (including LCD display) with a dry, soft cloth. If necessary, clean the
casing with soap or water dampened soft cloth.
Clean the redundant ultrasound gel with a soft cloth. Use soap and water only to clean
the probe.
Caution: Do not use strong solvents, such as acetone.
Caution: Do not use abrasive materials (such as steel wool or silver polish).
Caution: Do not allow any liquid into the cabinet, nor can any part of the instrument
immersed in the liquid.
Caution: Do not spill liquid into the instrument when cleaning it.
Caution: Do not allow any cleaning solution left in the instrument's surface.
Note: The probe surface can be wiped with 70% alcohol or isopropyl, and get dry
naturally or with a clean, dry cloth.
4.3 Sterilization
Clean the outer surface and the probe according to the method described above, and
then wipe the surface of the probe with 70% alcohol or isopropyl. wipe the surface of
the probe with a dry and soft cloth, to remove any residual liquid substances.
Caution: Do not sterilize the device or the probe by low temperature steam or other
methods.

4.4 Ultrasound Gel

Recommend the use of water-based onboard ultrasound gel. Never use oil-based
ultrasound gel.If the probe is damaged by the use of oil-based ultrasound gel,
warranty of the device will be automatically suspended.
4.5 Clean the printer

The thermal print head can work for more than 20 years without stoppage, this is
only the gurranty of electrical aspects. It is related largely to the paper used and
cleanliness of the operating environment. When the print is not clear or there are some
blank areas, the first step is cleaning the print head, methods and steps are as follows:
1. Turn off power supply of the monitor.
2. Turn on the printer panel.
3. Put the cotton swab with ethanol into the thermal element portion of the print
head (thin black thermal band partially visible in the print head), and move
around to gently wipe it, wipe several times especially in the area of print is not
clear. A few minutes after finished cleaning, tun on the device to confirm..
4. If the phenomenon is not completely eliminated, repeat step 3 until satisfaction.
4.6 Troubleshooting
Fetal monitor is with quality and reliability, if any problems, please follow this table to check and troubleshooting.

Check if the power line is connected, the power socket switch is turned on,

1. Check if the NIBP unit and measurement mode are properly
set, if the size of the cuff is appropriate and the cuff is properly
placed.
2 The patient must not move during measurement. The patient is
speaking or not calm during the measurement. The cuff is
pressed by the patient or external objects.

3. Check if there is a leakage in the cuff, air pipe or connector.
4. Check if the physical status of the patient affects measurement
result. When the patient is in shivering, convulsion, shock, low
body temperature, the measurement result will be inaccurate.
5. Try measuring repeatedly for several times, or make a
measurement on the other limb, or replace another cuff.

1. Test the grounding of the monitor casing.

2. Inaccurate HR caused by great interference of the ECG occurs
when the diagnosis mode is selected for the ECG monitoring
mode.
3. The HR of the patient with pacemaker is inaccurate.
4. Observe if the ECG cable and the patient move, the electrode is

5. Observe the ECG on the display screen to check if there is
abnormal QRS comprehensive wave.
6. Observe the ECG waveform on the display screen to check the
monitor gives out a pulse sound when there is R wave.
7. Try to display HR by use of pulse rate of Plath first.
1. Check if the ECG mode is correct. It should be set in surgery
mode during monitoring of surgery, and may be set in
monitoring mode during ordinary monitoring. If the ECG
waveform of the patient has big shift or big disturbance while
in monitoring mode, it should be set in surgery mode.
2. Check if the ECG electrode is placed firmly and the position
is correct. Before placing the electrode, the skin of the patient
ECG waveform shift or big should be cleaned and the grease or sweat on skin should be
disturbance wiped off with alcohol. If necessary, shave off the hair at the
place where the electrode is to be placed, abrade the stratum
corneum of skin of the patient, and clean with alcohol.
3. Check if the power socket protection is properly grounded.
For big disturbance, equal-potential ground wires should be
connected.
