SP-1045H
Curing vutyl rubber:
DESCRIPTION SP 1045 H resin, used in combination with catalysts
such as halide bearing elastomers and metallic
SP 1045 H is a heat-reactive alkylphenolic resin. chlorides, yields butyl vulcanizates with outstanding
resistance to dry, high heat and compression set. In
addition, these vulcanizates are non-blooming, non
SPECIFICATIONS staining and have high modulus values.

Regulated cure cycle:
SP 1045 H offers a wide range of cure rates from very

cured butyl shock are excellent. Modulus is high and
elongation is low, indications of a tightly cross-linked
structure.
SOLUBILITY It should be noted that the properties of the
vulcanizates will be dependent upon the amounts of
Aromatic hydrocarbon : complete resin and activator used and the unsaturation of the
Aliphatic hydrocarbon : limited butyl polymer. In general, as unsaturation decreases,

range of properties. outstanding butyl rubber coatings and sealants. A
solution of SP 1045 H and butyl rubber is prepared. A
second solution consisting of a Lewis acid in a
nitroparaffin solvent is also made. Just prior to the
PROCESSING application of the coating, these 2 solutions are
thoroughly mixed. The cured coatings are characterized
Compounding characteristics: by good heat, chemical and abrasion resistance.
Since SP 1045 H has a low melting point, its blends
easily into rubber stock. It is also readily soluble and
well-suited for cold cut addition into various adhesive
solutions.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Formula for polychloroprene adhesive:

Part A Parts (by weight) SAFETY & REGULATORY INFORMATION

Polychloroprene (AC Neopren -DuPont) 100 Before using SP-1045H, please refer to the material
Antioxidant (Zalba Special - DuPont) 2 safety data sheet. This material might be hazardous in
Magnesium oxide (Elastomag 100 - Morton) 4 case of prolonged contact with skin or mucous
Zinc oxide 5 membranes.
Solvent 333

Mill all compounding ingredients into rubber base and

dissolve base into solvent.

Part B Parts (by weight)

SP 1045 H resin 45
Solvent 50
Magnesium oxide 4.5
Water 0.9

Add SP 1045 H resin, magnesium oxide and water to

the solvent; agitate for at least 3 hours at room
temperature.

Part C

Combine parts A and B.

SP-103 H can be dissolved together with the other
adhesive components or added as a resin solution
(approximately 50%). It can also be processed in a ball
mill, if the extenders are to be dispersed in this way.
SP-103 H can greatly improve the activation capacity of
dry adhesive films. This is demonstrated by the
following comparison:

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

Stored in its original packaging and away from
dampness in a storage area where temperatures do not
exceed 25°C, SP-1045H will retain its properties at
least 12 months.
As with all phenolics resins, SP-1045H will become
darker with age. Pallets should never be stored double
stacked.

Note : Resins of this type are known to agglomerate or

sinter during storage. This condition does not affect the
performance of the resin in its normal application and is
not considered justification for rejection or return.

PACKAGING

SP-1045H is packed in 25 kg bags on 1000 kg pallets
