Simply giving the name of the material as “coal” or Js not good enough to proceed with the design work of conveyor system, because it varies greatly from place to place or process to process. Following information is required to determine the conveyor design. Bulk materials (1). Size of lump, grain and powder (mm or mesh). (2) Distribution of lump, grain end powder (26). (3) Bulk density gravity (volume weight) (t/m*). (4) Anglo of repose (Standstill state after dropping). (5) Angle of surcharge (Angle while the material is at rest on a moving conveyor belt). (6) Moisture content (26) (7), Temperature (0). (8) Special characteristics :abrasiveness, dustiness, stickness, pulverizableness, fragility, toxicity. (9) Conditions required during conveyance. (i) Name of the material carried. Packed materials (1) Dimensions of @ package (length x height in mm). (2) Appearance of package (wooden box, carton box, plastic bag, etc.). (3) weight per package (kg). (4) Hancling conditions Table 1-1 shows the characteristics and the codes for materials to be carried as specified in the International ‘Standards, while Table 1.2 does the relation between the angle of repose and the angle of surcharge, and Table 1-3 shows various materials carried and the corre: sponding data.
