I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. identify the various types of speech context
b. exhibit appropriate verbal and non- verbal behaviour in a given
speech context
c. practice effective interpersonal and intrapersonal skills

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Types of Speech Content
Materials: paper strips, power point presentation
Reference: Oral Communication in Context
Pages 32-33

III. PROCEDURE
A. Review
Ask the class about the previous lesson
What they learn in the previous lesson
Ask the students if they really understand the past lesson
B. Motivation
The students will pass around a box of strips of paper while the
music is playing. Each strip paper has a question. If the stops stops,
the person holding the box will draw one and answer the question
asked.
C. Activity
Discuss in three minutes what information can be contained in
each of the following types of communication

Communication with self Communication between two

persons
Communication in a small Communication to the public
group
 D. Abstraction
What are the types of speech context?
E. Application
ACT IT OUT! (Group activity)
Instructions:

 Work in a group of five and read the following scenes

Scene 1: someone making an announcement to the public
Scene 2: two small groups of people discussing something separately
Scene 3: one person talking to himself
Scene 4: two people speaking with each other on the phone
Scene 5: a reporter appearing live on screen
 Weave the scenes together into a story. You are free to interchange the
order of the scenes
 Act out your story and present it to the class within five minutes
