Revenue & Expenditure of Pakistan 

(2016-17)
The Budget in Brief presents a synopsis of the Federal Budget 2016-17. It provides aggregated information on
revenues and expenditures budgeted for fiscal year 2016-17 along with budget estimates and revised estimates
for the outgoing fiscal year 2015-16.
S​alient features​:
The net revenue receipts for 2016-17 have been estimated at Rs 2,779.7 billion indicating an increase of 12.8%
over the budget estimates of 2015-16.
The external receipts in 2016-17 are estimated at Rs 819.6 billion. This shows an increase of 9.1% over the
budget estimates for 2015-16.
The overall expenditure during 2016-17 has been estimated at Rs 4,894.9 billion, out of which the current
expenditure is Rs 3,844.0 billion and development expenditure is Rs 1,050.9 billion.

CURRENT EXPENDITURE

Education:
Under the 18​th Constitutional Amendment Education has been devolved to the provinces which are
responsible for the award of education up to intermediate level.

Health sector:
● 2014-15, and during current fiscal year (July-March) 2016-17, the expenditure remain at Health
spending is slow but persistently rising.
● The country is spending 0.5 to 0.8 percent of its GDP on health over the last 10 years.
● These world Bank latest report, currently Pakistan’s percentages are less than the WHO bench mark of
at least 6% of GDP.
