Bookstore Closing At 10:45 a.m. – Until enough volunteers are recruited to staff SoJ's book-
store after the 2nd service it will now close at 10:45. The bookstore is a great place for fellowship
and hospitality after worship so please contact Diane Belk if you'd be willing to help.

No Experience Necessary Study Meets Today – Join us at 10:45 a.m. in the Youth Room for No
Experience Necessary an adult study for people who have attended the 9 a.m. service.

Hispanic Worship Today – Join us today at 1 pm for a new bilingual sermon and Bible Study
series. Share the news about this exciting series with your Hispanic friends and neighbors.

Men’s Lunch Wednesday – All men are invited to enjoy lunch and conversation from 11:45am-
12:45pm Wednesday at the Orlando Ale House at the Waterford Lakes Town Center.

Ministry Staff Appreciation Dinner Wednesday – Sign-up at the Welcome Center today for a
ham dinner 6 p.m. Wednesday to show our appreciation to SoJ’s Ministry Staff (Jeff, William, Phil,
and Nicole) for all they do throughout the year.

Wednesday Night Live! – SoJ’s mid-week faith and friendship building activity night!
6:00-7 p.m. Dinner: Ham, Rice, Veggies. Donation: $3. Sign up at Welcome Center!

Adult Bible Study: A new study called “Life Together” with Pastor Jeff.
SoJ Women’s Event Friday – All women are invited to “Porch Time”, a casual social opportunity
to connect with your soul sisters this Friday from 7-ish to 10. We’ll have pizza in the Youth Room
and enjoy some fun activities, as well as just sitting back and relaxing together.

Congregational Meeting Nov. 4 – SoJ’s Leadership Team has called a brief congregational
meeting Sunday, Nov. 4th at 10:30 a.m. to authorize spending some eminent domain funds to
make necessary utility and signage changes so the county can begin widening Rouse Road.

Bonhoeffer Movie @ SoJ Nov. 4 – Our current sermon series was inspired by the book Life
Together. Join us Sunday, Nov. 4 at 6pm to watch the powerful movie about the life of one of the
saints of the 20th century, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Pastor William will lead a discussion afterwards.

Hispanic Women's Support Group Nov. 7 – Meets for 12 weeks, beginning Nov. 7, 9:30 a.m. at
the Lutheran Services of Florida offices, 2600 N. Dean Road. It’s free. Child care is provided. For

2008 Burundi Mission Trip Info Meeting Nov. 7 – Join us for Wednesday Night Live supper at
6:15 Nov. 7th to learn more about SoJ’s 2nd Mission Trip to Burundi, Africa, next summer.

Burundi Talent Show Nov. 11 – Don’t miss the Burundi benefit fund raiser talent show / silent
auction / bake sale at SoJ, Sunday, Nov.11 at 5 p.m. Want to help? See Kathy Raue.

Young Adult Camping Trip – Join SoJ’s young adults for camping at Wekiva Springs, Nov. 16-17.

Women’s Book Club Nov. 20 – SoJ’s Book Club will discuss Left To Tell, the story of Inmacolee
Ilibagiza who survived the Rwandan Holocaust. Her story will astonish you. Her faith will leave

Harvest of Hope: THANKSGIVING – The Outreach Team will be providing Thanksgiving dinners
(turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy) for close to 200 families. Monetary donations are in-
vited thru Nov. 11th. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will donate $.60 for every $1 donated. Place
your donation in an envelope and write “HoH Thanksgiving” and place it in offering basket.

Cleaning Volunteers Needed – If you’re available 10am Thursday morning, PLEASE consider
helping us clean the building once or twice a month. Sign-up at the Welcome Center today!

Free Transportation For Seniors Available! The Congregational Care Team is offering free
transportation to SoJ activities for seniors. Sign-up at the Welcome Center to be a driver or if you
know of someone who would like to utilize the service. Questions? See Pam Rousseau.

Quilting Team – SOJ’s quilters meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 9:30am in the large classroom.

Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Calling all SPLASH ZONE Parents! We are encouraging all parents to assist the Kidmo emcee
with supervision once a month. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Zone. Thanks!

Youth/Family Movie "Facing the Giants" POSTPONED – Watch for details for this opportunity
to come around again!

Candy and Decorated Trunks Needed For Trunk or Treat @ SoJ Saturday – Trunk or Treat,
Saturday, 6:30-8:30pm at SoJ, an alternative to Halloween festivities complete with games and
prizes. Decorated car trunks will pass out candy. Sign up at the Welcome Center to decorate your
trunk. We encourage decorations to be creatively “not scary” and if possible to utilize Bible
characters. Setup begins at 5:30. Wrapped candy donations are being collected today.

Youth Fight Hunger by Picking Corn Nov. 3 – MS & HS Youth fight hunger by gleaning corn left
in the fields to be donated to the needy. Meet at SoJ 8am, Saturday, Nov. 3. Return at 1pm. Bring
gloves, water, and lunch money. Adults needed to help carpool. Sign up today!

Deck The Halls Nov. 28 – Dec. 2! Stop by the Deck The Halls table for info about donating and
decorating a tree or wreath for the 2nd annual Deck The Halls Silent Auction. This fundraiser for the
Creative Arts Studio Grace Rate Scholarship Fund takes place Nov. 28 - Dec. 2. The theme is “All
The Songs Of Christmas”. Join the fun! SoJ’s youth will help out this year so a portion of the
proceeds will benefit their mission trip expenses. They can also earn community service points!

Alternative Christmas Gift Idea! For the “person who has everything”, consider buying a bag
of stucco to waterproof a mud block home in Burundi in their honor! One $20 bag will cover ½ a
house. Two bags will waterproof the entire home! A card will be provided to announce the gift. This
would be a great gift for birthdays and other special occasions too! See Patti Linman.

Children’s Choir Welcomes Deborah Dennis! – Deborah, who also runs Music Time for Tots
here at SoJ, has graciously offered to lead the Children’s Choir. They will meet on Wednesday, 7-8
p.m. in the classroom at the North end of the building. Immediate plans include singing at both
services on November 11.

Joy Singers – This adult choir is for anyone, regardless of experience! They meet Wednesdays
from 7-8 p.m. in the worship center, and sing occasionally on Sunday mornings to provide special
music or added support to the worship team.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

New Art Classes – The next Art Classes offered by Nancy Watson through the Creative Arts
Studio will begin soon. Children’s Art (age 7-10) starts October 29; Adult Painting starts November
3. For more information, pick up a flyer at the Welcome Center.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
