Y3-Y5 Parent Art Afternoon/Mornings
Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to
our Y3 Art Afternoon on Wednesday. The Gardeners
World Art work was amazing. Thank you for all the really
positive comments we received.
The afternoon session for Y4 will start at 1.45pm, the
morning session for Y5 will start at 9.15am

Science Week
Thank you to all the parents and carers that came to
the Y3, Y4 and Y5 Science workshops this week. We
had great fun building rockets, Mars Landers and
making Parachutes. Thank you to everyone who
took the time to come and to those who provided
insightful comments.
Picture This Project
Our Picture This project this year will be focused
around three artists and their work - Degas, Renoir
and Monet. As well as taking some pupils on a
photographic excursion around Rotherham, we are
trying to collect items to help us: Beach Photos,
Newspapers and crisp packets are really needed!
Photos and Newspapers however need to be
suitable ones for children to use –

Sports Day Friday 28th June
Our sports day this year will be based around a more
traditional
pace! sports day. Children will compete in their
Year groups in races with a more traditional prize
giving. Let’s hope the sun shines!

Opening doors early - Reading School
This half term we are trialling opening our doors to
children from 8.30am. Many of our children have said
that they would like to come into school to read or
settle into the day earlier rather than be out on the
yard. We have had a number of minor incidents in
the morning that could be prevented if they came
straight into school rather than staying out on the
yard. For example: some of our younger children
being hit with balls brought from home, groups of
children falling out or children playing too rough.
All of our pupils have a right to a safe environment!
I have asked staff to monitor this situation so please
respect their decisions on the yard when they are
trying to keep your children safe.
Children have breaks, lunchtimes, the daily mile and
PE sessions, throughout the day when they can play
with equipment or support their physical
development. There will still be a staff member out
on the yard who will blow the whistle at 8.40am.

Please note the following changes to P.E days from
next week:
Monday morning– Y6
Wednesday afternoon – Y3
Thursday afternoon – Y5
Friday afternoon – Y4
Attendance
Well done Seahorse Class – 97.3% attendance
Just a reminder that our annual school target from
the local authority is 96.5%. Letters have been sent
to those pupils with 100% attendance and those
whose attendance percentage has dropped.
These letters are a reminder if a child’s
attendance has dropped. It is a statutory
requirement to keep parents informed.
Thank you to those parents who continually
support us. We will soon be awarding all children
with excellent attendance.
