Fundraising Policy

In order to account for all monies collected and to follow the State of
Michigan Charitable Gaming guidelines the following updates will be put
in place to our school fundraising policy:

These updates pertain to all staff, staff who sponsor clubs, and the school’s
PTO

1.) The building administrator, using the fundraiser request form, must
approve any fundraiser. If denied, the administrator will give you the
reason(s) why and you may adjust your fundraiser request form
accordingly.

2.) The fundraiser request form must be turned into the building
administrator 2 weeks before the fundraiser at the latest, the earlier
the better.

3.) If the event/fundraiser includes a raffle, a State of Michigan Raffle

License application must be completed. A copy of this must be sent
to the administrator as well.

4.) All money collected for ANY fundraiser and/or school event must be
collected in a cash box. The amount of starting cash must be
recorded. Cash boxes are available in the office and must be
returned and locked in the office.

5.) All money collected for ANY fundraiser and/or school event must be
counted by two people inside the school building. These two
people must be either on the PTO Board or a teacher. Substitute
teachers and student teachers are not allowed to count money.

6.) The final amount of money collected must be recorded in the

deposit book in the office. Put a copy in the collection bag and
give the collection bag to one of the secretaries, another copy for
your records, and the other copy stays in the book.

7.) No money shall be kept in a classroom or mailbox in order to

prevent any lost and/or stolen money. All money will be locked in
the save in the office.
8.) Fundraisers must either benefit the school or a designated
charitable cause that is noted on the fundraiser request form.
Personal fundraisers are not allowed. A club (sponsored by a staff
member), PTO, or staff member must sponsor a fundraiser.

9.) Food cannot be sold more than twice a week as part of a

fundraiser.

10.) Any flyer regarding the fundraiser must be distributed to all

students and a copy must be given to both the administrator and
secretary(s).
