Serene Ds Spi
Serene Ds Spi
With the fast pace of business operations, delayed software deployment can
cost your organization hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the rush to meet
deployment deadlines, however, performance often suffers, and poorly performing
enterprise software substantially increases cost of ownership while discouraging
user adoption. By measuring and correcting performance degradation, your
organization can realize the full value of its enterprise software.
By using the latest testing tools, a combination of the e-TEST® Suite for Siebel 7 by Empirix, the Siebel Test
Automation Toolkit, and our proprietary SPI Toolkit, we accelerate the test scripting process and rapidly
identify and resolve issues of performance degradation, increasing adoption and productivity.

Reduced risk
With proven development-for-performance methodology, Serene ensures that all relevant KPIs and
application capabilities comply with all specifications, eliminating non-compliant, non-performing
enterprise software.
Ensured ROI
Poorly performing or scaling software can greatly increase total cost of ownership by requiring more
hardware than expected as well as more concurrent users to handle the load when software
throughput does not meet projected levels. With performance testing and tuning, Serene can help
you avoid these issues and meet your ROI goals.
Experience
Serene’s PSRT staff members have years of experience resolving complex performance and scalability
issues in all Siebel functional areas, including Sales, Call Center, Order Management, and Field Service,
for some of Siebel’s largest customers.
Approach
Serene adheres to Siebel best practices, including performance-based methodology and
Siebel-published testing guidelines, in all engagements. The knowledge gained from real-world testing
experiences enable Serene’s PSRT consultants to provide clients with cost-effective testing solutions.
Tools
By using a combination of the latest testing tools, Serene enables its PSRT team to focus on testing
and tuning, rather than scripting. Serene uses its custom SPI Toolkit to analyze Siebel performance
data and provide a high-level view as well as a detailed breakdown of performance by major
application modules. The SPI Toolkit reduces the time required to identify areas of performance
degradation and allows the PRST team to provide specific application tuning guidance.

Development Preparation
Serene’s PSRT team begins building test plans as the client’s Siebel deployment takes shape in order to
define priorities, build test cases, and procure the requisite hardware and software for efficient testing.
They work with the development team to perform testing and to provide tuning recommendations as part
of the unit test phase. This enables the team to identify any performance-related issues early in the project
when the cost of making changes is nominal, rather than later when costs are exorbitant.
• Performance Testing: Design and implement a battery of tests that measure whether the application
is meeting KPIs. Building a solid PSRT test plan starts early in the project timeline.
• Scalability Testing: Build on the Performance Test planning to combine performance test scripts to
create real-world scenarios that mimic the projected concurrent user load. The goal is to ensure that
the application has accurate and validated resources available to meet business needs. These tests
identify any potential bottlenecks in the application or infrastructure that appear only during heavy
user loads.
• Reliability Testing: Ensure the application is ready for production use. Use the same test plans
developed for previous stages to subject the application to long-duration tests to find any memory
leaks or resource-intensive issues that could cause outages or delays.
