Selection modify command
method
 Select modify commands in the Modify menu.

 Select modify commands in the Modify toolbar.

Rectangular Arrays
The ARRAY command allows you to arrange
multiple copies of an object or group of
objects in a rectangular pattern
Example of a rectangular array using 2 rows,
2 columns, and spacing of 100

Array objects

Original object
Polar Arrays
The ARRAY command allows you to arrange
multiple copies of an object or group of
objects in a circular or polar pattern.
Example of a polar array with 4 items, 360
degree angle, and rotated objects.

Polar Arrays (cont)
Example of a polar array with 4 items, 360
degree angle, and non-rotated objects.

Original object Array objects

Array are useful to create the object in

repeated pattern.
Break command
Used to partially delete a segment of an
object
Command: BR

Points selected for break

1
Chamfer command
Used to produce an inclined surface at an edge of
two intersecting line segments to finish a sharp
corner.
Command: CHA
Chamfer sizes are determined by 2 input methods
Input by 2 distances
distance and angle
Copy command
Used to duplicate an object or group of objects.
Command: CP
– Hint: Select base point either on the original object or on a
reference point to make the copy easier to locate

Original object

Copy object
Exploded command
Used to separate an “grouped” object back
into its individual parts
Used on blocks or cut and paste objects to get
them back to the original entity configuration

Command: X
Extend command
Used to extend objects to a specified boundary
edge
 Command: EX

Before Boundary line After extend

Fillet command
Used to round an edge formed in the corner of an
object
• Command: F
• Set the radius before selecting edges

• Hint: After setting radius, the fillet command needs to be

restarted before you can use the fillet radius change
Lengthen command
 Used to change the length of a selected object
without disturbing other object qualities such as
angles of lines or radii of arcs
 Command: LEN
Mirror command
 Used to create a mirrored copy of an object or
group of objects
• Command: MI
• Mirror line is created by selecting 2 points

Mirror Line
Move command
Used to reposition an object or group of objects to a
new location
Command: M

• Hint: Select base point either on the original object or on

a reference point to make the move points easier to
locate
Offset command
Used for creating one object parallel to another
Copies objects at preset distances.
Use to layout centerlines and for beginning
drawings.
• Command: OF
Pedit command
Used to edit polylines. These modifications can come in
many forms:
Width Changes the overall width of the polyline
Join Joins segments (polyline and non-polyline) to make
a single polyline
Spline & Fit Curve Spline creates a smooth curve from
the points; Fit curve produces a more radical curve
Line-type Generation changes the line-type style
between segment points
Pedit Command
Chamfers, fillets and offsets, when applied to
polylines; they change all the segments in the
polyline
Rotate command
Used to change the orientation of an object or
group of objects by identifying a base point
and a rotation angle that completes the new
orientation
Command: RO
Scale command
Used to change the overall size of an object
Command: SC
Scale of 0.50 is 50% of original size
Scale of 2 is 100% bigger than original size
Stretch command
Used to move a portion of a drawing while
still preserving the connections to parts of
the drawing remaining in place
Command: S
Must use a crossing window to select objects.
Trim command
– Used to partially delete an object or group of
objects based on a cutting edge
– Command: TR

Trim line
