    Joseph was a fourteen-year-boy.

    He lived in Connecticut at the time of


    the American Revolution. One day he was working with his grandfather
    when they heard a gunshot. They started toward town right away.
    There, they found out that soldiers were needed for the American
    army. After a few months of thinking about it, Joseph decided to
    enlist.

    His grandparents gave him supplies. Then he went to New York city for
    training.

    Joseph’s company had to go to Brooklyn to fight the British. As they


    got closer to the battlefield, Joseph saw wounded soldiers and heard
    the sound of gunfire. Joseph’s company Joined the battle. soon after,
    they marched on the fight a second battle. After he left the army,
    joseph went home to work on the farm. He rejoined the army a year
    later and fought for another six years.

    Sybil Ludington was another young person who helped the cause of
    AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE.
