Listen and Do Position Words

You’ll need crayons to do the paper. Ask your child to listen carefully and follow your
directions. Say: Look at the picture, find your red crayon and make a red line between
the boy and girl; pick up your green crayon and draw a green line over the boy; draw a
blue line under the girl; draw an orange line beside the girl; and a purple X on the turkey.

Answers Listen and Do Position Words
Sit beside your child and reread each direction. Praise your child each mark that is
placed correctly, show him/her the correct position for any marks that are incorrectly
placed by marking it. Don’t scold your child for mistakes they make, everyone feels
better when you point out the correct answers in a kind way.

This is an important type of worksheet because teachers use this language in giving
directions in the classroom. Keep this in mind and play a simple game with your child
asking him/her to place a toy around you in the correct places. Use the same type of
directions as my examples above. Include these position words in the game through,
behind, above, below. Continue to do this until your child seems confident in following
these directions.
