𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑐 30° cot 45° 2 cos 0°

2. If A = B = 60°, verify that

(i) cos (A – B) = cos A cos B + sin A sin B

(ii) sin (A – B) = sin A cos B – cos A sin B

tan 𝐴−tan 𝐵
(iii) tan (A – B) =
1+tan 𝐴 tan 𝐵

3. Prove that :
1−𝑠𝑖𝑛𝜃
√( ) = sec𝞱 – tan𝞱
1+𝑠𝑖𝑛𝜃

4. A man standing on the deck of a ship, which is 10 m above water

level . He observes the angle of elevation of the top of a hill as 60°

and the angle of depression of the base of the hill as 30° .

Calculate the distance of the hill from the ship and height of the hill.

5. Two stations due south of a leaning tower which leans towards the

north are at distances a and b from its foot. If α and β be the

elevations of the top of the tower from these stations , prove that its

inclination 𝞱 to the horizontal is given by :

𝑏𝑐𝑜𝑡𝛼 −𝑎𝑐𝑜𝑡𝛽
cot 𝞱 =
𝑏 −𝑎
