THE FIVE MOST BIZARRE MEDICAL

CONDITIONS AROUND THE GLOBE.

The world is truly a hypochondriac’s nightmare, full of thousands

upon thousands of painful and debilitating diseases and medical
conditions, from the mundane to the highly unusual.

Extremely rare and unbelievably bizarre, the world’s weirdest

health issues are listed below:

1. Alien Hand Syndrome.

- It’s the plot of a few horror movies, but a very bizarre reality for
some: hands with minds of their own that move and behave
seemingly independent of the sufferer’s intentions.
- The ‘Alien Hands’ undo buttons, manipulate tools, and even
grope people without the awareness of those to whom the
hands are attached.
- It may arise as a result of lesions in the brain area’s involved in
motor control, planning, and sensory relay.
- Such lesions may occur after strokes, through
neurodegenerative illness: Alzheimer’s disease.
2. Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva(Stone Man
Syndrome).
- Some people bodies are a little too proficient at healing injuries,
going so far overboard as to turn a joint to stone.
- It involves a mutation of the body’s repair mechanism, which
causes muscles, tendons, and ligaments to ossify when
damaged.
- It is caused by a mutation in the ACVR1 gene, a gene that
controls cell growth and proliferation in muscle and connective
tissue.

3. Alice In Wonderland Syndrome

- When objects appear much smaller or larger than they should
like dogs the size of mice, or ladybugs as big as a house: you’re
either on drugs or experiencing Alice in Wonderland Syndrome.
- A temporary condition that affects our perception of the world
around us.
- Also called the Todd’s Syndrome or Lilliputian Hallucinations can
be caused by epilepsy, brain tumours and use of psychoactive
drugs.

4. Walking Corpse Syndrome (Cotard’s Syndrome).

- It’s an utterly mystifying phenomenon in which the afflicted
person is convinced that he/she has died or lost a vital part of
the body,, and avoid their daily activities, as they believe they
don’t exist.
- It may occur along with mental illness: schizophrenia and mood
disorders.

5. Aquagenic Urticaria(Allergy To Water).

- People with Aquagenic Urticaria rapidly develop itchy Hives after
their skin comes in contact with water, particularly neck, arms
and upper trunk of body.
- They are unable to engage in a number of normal everyday
activities involving water.
- It is believed it a result of substances dissolved in water, which
enter skin and activate the immune response.
