Course Title: VALUES EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS


Course Code: EDU 53
Credit Units: 3
Course Description: This course orients the prospective teachers on the nature of values education and exposes them to the different
methodologies and strategies in integrating desirable values, attitudes, and appreciations in the teaching of the different
learning areas in the basic education curriculum.

Placement: 3rd Year, 1st Semester


Pre-Requisite: ENG 13

Program Educational Objectives (PEO):

A graduate should be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and values in facilitating learning and achievement among pupils in Elementary level;
2. Show understanding of how students learn and are able to create learning opportunities and experiences that foster inquiry,
collaboration and interaction;
3. Show competence in the various instructional principles and strategies, including proficiency in the use of information
communication technology, testing and performance-based assessment tools, and community resources;
4. Demonstrate commitment to helping students achieve their potential by providing for individual differences and fostering a
classroom environment conducive for learning; and
5. Display personal integrity and practice the ethics of the teaching profession.

Student Outcomes (SO) :

The graduates has the ability to:

a. Apply knowledge related to natural sciences, mathematics, languages and social sciences appropriate to the discipline and the
program educational objectives.
b. Identify and analyze a problem and issues that affects the teaching profession,
c. Improve, and evaluate the different competencies necessary in the growth and development of the teaching profession.
d. Function effectively in experiencing teaching as vocation, mission and profession.
e. Understand professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities related to the teachers.
f. Communicate effectively for instructional purposes.
g. Analyze the local and global impact in developing both the teacher and the learner as a person.
h. Recognize the need for and ability to engage in continuing professional development as part of continuing education.
i. Use techniques, methods, strategies approaches, skills, and materials necessary to the execution of the lesson.
