Maggie, thanks a lot for this nice letter of support. I've copied it below in case someone else asks for it -- they would be
able to see by your e-mail ID that you wrote it.

I'm winding up my 200 hours of student teaching at a charter middle school in south Chattanooga. I'll go back to Greece
and complete the certification studies for a Washington DC license from there, which should be around March. I plan to
teach again at CTY this summer if the opportunity is there.

Would you tell me, from your long experience, where a novice teacher like me might apply for teaching jobs? I understand
a lot of people are using one or the other large placement agencies. Is that what your school does? I attached my resume
here to give you an idea of the training and experience I've got to this point.

Thanks again Maggie for your help here.

Yours
Kevin

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Kevin Berkowitz. I was his supervisor for 6 weeks this summer at
the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Summer Program in Bristol, Rhode Island. He taught Robotics both
sessions. I was one of two academic deans who supervised 26 teachers to ensure that the students were getting
the highest rigor and devoted attention. I have been teaching 26 years both in the United States and abroad. I
have my Masters in English and am presently the Head of the English Department at the Perkiomen School
outside of Philadelphia.

In the time that I worked with Kevin I observed him to be extremely intelligent, thoughtful in his planning and
endlessly patient with the students. His course was designed to be heavily hands-on, experiential learning. Kevin
had beginners to experts and managed to keep them challenged throughout a grueling day in which students
were in the classroom from 8:00 am to noon and then 1 to 3:30. His classroom was a beehive of activity, but
there was order and manageability. He worked one on one with students to problem solve various sequences of
skills with the robots. He also created fun competitions to maintain enthusiasm and interest throughout the
week.

In addition, Kevin handled some students who had problems with the social aspects of the camp. He showed
compassion and patience in helping the students try new, healthier behavior so that they could make friends and
be more part of the groups. Kevin showed skill and finesse managing his students during recess period and in
the lunchroom. These were times when students sometimes had difficulty managing their emotions and energy.
Through his calm demeanor and established authority his students were well-behaved and orderly.

I give Kevin Berkowitz my highest recommendation for employment. His intelligence to understand and teach a
wide spectrum of content, his skills in classroom management and his stoic patience in dealing with students I
feel will make him an exceptional teacher. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at:
