SOFTWARE BUSINESS ANALYST

To ensure high quality, timely delivery, design and development of software

projects to specified functional requirements working closely with the development
team, Software Architect and Head of Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Lead the analysis effort with clients on custom software development projects

 Analyze and formulate solutions to business problems

 Build software prototypes and/or screen wireframes

 Write functional and technical specifications for Developers

 Present the results of analysis, application functionality, and solution design to

clients

 Work with the team to develop a testing strategy and test plans

 Show initiative and speak up; successfully present to groups of people without stage
fright

 Challenge the status quo; don’t just accept what is presented

 Operate independently in a fast paced and demanding work environment where

strong organization and multi-tasking skills are required


PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

 5+ years of experience in business analysis, technical writing or solution design

required

 Must have experience with software that requires major customization

 Proven work experience as a Business Analyst for custom software

implementations, preferably with state government agencies

 Experience authoring software requirements and specifications documents such

as Business Requirements Documents, Functional Specifications Documents
(FSD), etc.

 Worked on projects where client is completely external to the organization and

the only corporate relationship with the client is through a contract

 Experience working directly with external clients under contract, particularly

fixed-price/fixed-scope

 Must have managed User Acceptance Testing and taken a system live

 Experience adhering to written contracts between the company and the client

 Excellent client-facing and internal written and verbal communication skills

 Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

 Excellent verbal/written communications and presentation skills required

 Experience in consulting with clients on custom software development projects

required

 Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills

 Ability to create project plans to communicate business analysis approach,

deliverables, and estimates

 Experience in presenting the results of analysis and application functionality to

clients

 Leadership skills, business acumen and ability to demonstrate to clients a

complete command and understanding of the business needs, problems, issues,
and priorities
  Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Visio, Excel, Project

 Must be adaptable, flexible, and creative. Must be able to visualize and

communicate the end vision.

 Not just track tasks from a high level but get down in the details, understand the
problems, and come up with solutions

 Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field

 Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%

 Strong architecture, analysis, design, coding, and code review skills with Internet
applications

 Having extensive experience in developing Client-Server (Web) applications

using Java and J2EE Technologies

 Expertise in developing applications using XML, XSLT for editing reports,

SOAP, JSON based webservices.

 Working knowledge in webservers such as TOMCAT

 Experience in using tools like Eclipse, My Eclipse IDE’s.

 Strong focus on time and resource-management, decision-making and parallel

project deliveries.

 Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures

 Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with business analysts,
solution architects, project managers and development teams.

 Expertise in Java development (Java / J2EE).

 Any one scripting languages - Java Script

 Operating Systems - Windows 2000/ XP, Linux

 Web/App Servers - TOMCAT5.5

 IDES - Eclipse, My Eclipse

  XSLT for editing reports
 SOAP/XML / JSON
 CSS / HTML

 Business rules engine configuration / maintenance experience is a big plus
