    a, aa = /ɑ/, ah “father”

    ä = /æ/ “cat”

    e = /ε/, eh “let”

    ee = /e/, ā “pay”

    i, ii = /i/, ē “feed”

    o = /ɔ/ “thought”

    u = /ʊ/ “wood”

    uu = /u/ “scoop”

    y = /y/ similar to “cute”


    think of saying “ee” through “oo” lips

    2 (different) vowels in a row = pronounce both vowels in order


    For example,
    rai-jai-jai à rah-ee – yah-ee – yah-ee
    tie-täi-sit à tee-eh – tæ-ee – seet
