3. Recall why individuals gear towards smoking

Learning Activities:

(15-30 minutes)

The students will sit in their desks when class begins. I will already have the teacher tube video ready to
play; I will explain the topic for the day and then introduce the harmful effects of tobacco use. The video
is based around the health effects that occur with smoking and some statistics about the United States
as a whole smoking. As the video plays, they students will also be filling out the graphic organizer that is
organized in sections by the health effect.

Assessment/Evaluation:
During the video the students were filling out a graphic organizer. The graphic organizer lets the
students be organized and keep the information tied to the correct harmful effect. After the video I will
split the students into 5 groups and will be assigned to further research about one of the harmful
effects. I will give the students around 20 minutes to compare their notes, research, and create a
presentation including everyone in their group. Once, the students feel ready to present they will
present to inform their fellow classmates about their health effect they researched together.
