DISTRICT YOUTH CAMP 2019

Criteria and Guidelines for Contests by Zone

VOCAL SOLO
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Participants may choose any genre of (one) Christian song.
 There will be no time limit for this contest.
 May use live accompaniment, a minus one or a prerecorded accompaniment.
 If prerecorded accompaniment or minus one, participants shall bring a copy of their
own music in a flash drive. Music should be in .mp3 or .wav format only. Flash
drives will be submitted to Meekah Beatingo morning before the competition.
 Mashups are strictly prohibited
 Backing tracks with second voices (either soprano, alto, tenor bass) shall be
disqualified
 Must be in proper attire
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.
 The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

CHORAL COMPETITION
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Participants may choose any genre of (one) Christian song.
 Each group shall be given 5 minutes-7 minutes for the overall performance.
 May use live accompaniment, a minus one or a prerecorded accompaniment.
 If prerecorded accompaniment or minus one, participants shall bring a copy of their
own music in a flash drive. Music should be in .mp3 or .wav format only. Flash
drives will be submitted to Meekah Beatingo morning before the competition.
 Mashups may be used as musical arrangement
 Backing tracks with second voices (either soprano, alto, tenor bass) shall be
disqualified
 Must be in proper attire
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.
 The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

POP DANCE COMPETITION
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Each team shall be composed of at least 5 to 10 members/dancers.
 Each team shall bring a copy of their own music in a flash drive. Music should be
in .mp3 or .wav format only. Flash drives will be submitted to Meekah Beatingo
morning before the competition.
 Costumes must follow dress code policies and must be free from hazardous
materials such as pins and pointed objects. Accessories must be safe and shall
not in any way harm other members during their routines.
 Every team are allowed to use props and are responsible for cleaning discarded
materials after the performance. Use of party poppers, glitters and such that are
difficult to clean be highly discouraged.
 Time allotted for the performance will only be 5-7 minutes. A deduction of 5 points
will be given if the team fails to meet the minimum and maximum time.
 Any kind of hip hop dance is allowed (locking, popping, krump, house, stepping,
breakdance, hip-hop choreography) or any kind of dance with hip hop as their focal
thought of choreography, provided that the choreographers of the group have the
proper knowledge or background to execute it properly.
 No vulgarity, obscenity, and explicit contents are allowed.
 Choice of song must be a Christian Song and must be in relation to the theme.
 In case the routine is stopped by an unexpected circumstance, the officers and/or
judges will review the situation, and upon confirming a decision and correcting the
problem, the team will be re-introduced, and will be allowed to re-start their routine.
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.

B. Execution - 25%

o Projection/Delivery/Expression
o Overall Standard and Technique

C. Musicality - 20%
o Creative interpretation of beats
o Phrasing and content of song chosen

D. Costume - 20%
o Creativity
o Style

E. Audience Impact - 5%
PREACHING CONTEST
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Each zone representative can be both male and female and must be in their formal
attire.
 Bible Students are allowed to participate in the competition.
 Preaching piece may be delivered in both English and Filipino.
 Performance time for preaching contest will be 5-10 minutes.
 A deduction of 5 points will be given if the team fails to meet the minimum and
maximum time.
 Contestants are not allowed to use PowerPoint Presentations and video clips.
Background music will be provided by the DYMT officers.
 Assistance of Church Pastors, as well as their advices are accepted however, the
contestant must prepare and deliver an original sermon.
 Grammar is very important!
 Each sermon must be strictly founded with Biblical content and interpretations.
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.
 The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

Criteria for Judging:

A. Message Content - 50%


o Based on Biblical Context
o Scriptures used to support text
o Originality

B. Outline - 30%
o Introduction/Closing
o Major Points
o Illustrations/Anecdotes

C. Delivery - 20%
o Mastery
o Persuasiveness
o Overall Presentation (Facial Expressions, Voice Modulation,
Gestures, etc.)
SPOKEN POETRY
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Each zone representative can be both male and female and must be in their formal
attire.
 Entry must be in Filipino.
 Performance time will be 5-7 minutes for Spoken Poetry Contest.
 A deduction of 5 points will be given if the team fails to meet the minimum and
maximum time.
 Each team may bring a copy of their own background music in a flash drive. Music
should be in .mp3 or .wav format only. Flash drives will be submitted to Meekah
Beatingo morning before the competition.
 Content must be in line with the theme.
 Piece must be originally made by the contestant. Assistance from Church Pastor
or Youth adviser is accepted.
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.
 The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

Criteria for Judging:

A. Content - 50%
o Relevance to the Theme
o Creativity
o Originality
o Coherence of form, structure and outline
o Use of poetic devices (Alliteration, Assonance, Imagery, Metaphor, etc.)

B. Delivery - 40%
o Mastery
o Voice Projection, Expression and Gestures
o Stage Presence
o Poise and spontaneity of recitation
o Clarity of spoken words and diction/enunciation

C. Audience Impact - 10%


COMICAL SKIT
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Each team may include their desired number of members in the skit.
 Each team shall bring a copy of their own background music in a flash drive. Music
should be in .mp3 or .wav format only. Flash drives will be submitted to Meekah
Beatingo morning before the competition. Music should already be compiled in
one audio file.
 Content of the Comical skit must speak of The Great Commission (Missions).
Performances with a different theme will receive a 5-point deduction.
 Profane or obscene behavior, language, gestures, and other vulgar acts are not
tolerated and will result in disqualification.
 Costumes must follow dress code policies and must be free from hazardous
materials such as pins and pointed objects. Accessories must be safe and shall

o Facial Expressions, Voice Modulation

D. Audience Impact - 10%
BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Guidelines:

 All the competitors should be registered delegates of the Youth Camp.


 Each band must be composed of 3-6 members.
 Time allotted for each band will only be 15 minutes (From preparation to exit). First
5 minutes will be for preparations. No more sound checks. Make sure guitars
(bass, electric, acoustic) are in tune before going up the stage and the preceding
10 minutes will be for the main performance. Any band that goes over the
allotted time will have points deducted.
 The band should only play 2 Christian Songs (Preferably Praise songs).
 Mashups and song revisions/rearrangements will be allowed.
 Original Composition is allowed
 Songs should not contain vulgarities, profanities, lewd comments, racist remarks,
violence, sexual content, etc.
 Each band must bring their own instruments. Only Drum Set and Microphones
will be provided.
 Songs may not be related to the theme.
 Any violation in the above-mentioned guidelines shall have a corresponding
deduction in the performers’ overall points.
 The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

o Knowledge in Instruments being used
o Technical Proficiency/Expertise
o Sensitivity
o Voice Quality

B. Mastery and Synchronization - 20%

C. Arrangement and Originality - 20%


o Choice of Songs
o Authentic Renditions
o Lyric Content (for original songs)
o Overall Presentation (Facial Expressions, Voice Modulation,
Gestures, etc.)

D. Audience Impact - 10%
