T&E Letter To WMATA Board - 6-20-2019
ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
Board of Directors
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
600 5th Street, NW
Washington, DC 20001
Board members:
We are writing to you today to urge WMATA to publicly release the full and unredacted
report of the ethics investigation of WMATA Board Chair Jack Evans.
Our county leaders and many of our officials are deeply concerned by allegations
reported by The Washington Post that Mr. Evans used his position on the WMATA
Board to advance the interests of his business clients for personal gain. As a publicly
funded entity, WMATA needs to demonstrate transparency and uphold public
confidence.
We ask for the WMATA Board to release the outside counsel's report of the
investigation into Mr. Evans. Taxpayers deserve to know the conclusions of this
investigation, and deserve the opportunity to review all accompanying documentation.
We also request to know who decided to close the investigation and under what
grounds, and what actions the Board of Directors has or will take in regards to the
investigation.
Thank you,
