    1) Construction joints are created every 5 meters in concrete roads by cutting a 6mm wide and 100mm deep groove using a heavy duty cutter. 2) The joints are then cleaned in two steps - first by removing debris with an air blower and then further cleaning the inside of the joint. 3) A sealant is applied into the cleaned joint according to the manufacturer's specifications and temperature guidelines to seal the joint.

    Methodology of Construction/Expansion Joint

    1) CREATION OF THE JOINT BY HEAVY DUTY CUTTER

    After Construction of CC Road, Creating a Grove having 6mm width and 100mm depth with heavy duty
    cutter at every 5mtr distance.

    Preparing Grove by Heavy Duty Cutter

    2) CLEANING OF THE JOINT IN TWO STEPS

    Step-1 Cleaning of the surface and surrounding pavement of the routed joint out of any debris by Wind
    Blower/Manually.

    Step-2 Cleaning inside of joint with Air Blower out of any loose material or debris before sealant application.

    3) APPLICATION OF SEALENT
    Apply of sealant (per attached Data Sheet) at application temperature based on material specification and
    recommended manufacturer temperature into the joint after cleaning of joint.
    Sealant Material shall be used as per Tender Specification and MoRT&H Specification 602.2.10 page no
    268.

    Sealant Material: Sika Polysulphide Pour Grade (Confirms to: BS 5212 – 1990)

    4) SPREADING CEMENT ON TOP OF THE APPLIED SEALANT


    If needed, manual cement application on top of the sealed joint helps faster curing time and traffic
    opening when lane closure is critical.
