The church’s musical worship is a gift from God that allows it to express the richness and depth of life in Christ-lament, hope, service, justice, redemption, peace, reconciliation, resurrection and grace. Working closely with the Minister and Worship Committee, and accountable to the Session, you will help to create a worship environment in which the depth of life in Christ can be both experienced and expressed. You will do this through the following tasks: Organ/Piano 1. Be available to play the organ and/or piano every Sunday while Knox is open. 2. Take two (2) weeks paid holidays in addition to any Sundays when the church is closed. You will arrange for supply on these Sundays in consultation with the minister and the Worship Committee. 3. Be available for special services (i.e. Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and occasional evening services when planned by Session). 4. Be available for weddings and funerals held at the church, having the right of first refusal. 5. Pursuant to # 4, you will be additionally compensated as determined by yourself and the party involved. Musical Director 6. Direct the choir, who will be involved in the worship service every Sunday (excluding the summer), or as directed by the Worship Committee on behalf of the Session. 7. Organize and conduct rehearsals for the choir weekly or as directed by the Worship Committee. 8. Create opportunities for and encourage children and youth to be part of the music program either as part of ensembles or soloists. 12. Incorporate other musicians from within the congregation into the music leadership. 13. Purchase suitable music as needed with funds allocated in the annual budget.
Please note that it may be possible to separate directing the choir from this job description if necessary.
