Mental health in people with addictions

What is important in the study of mental health in addicts?. Mental Health has
been an stigma in the world. In recent years the world has become more aware
of the enormous potential that exists on this problem. Mental health is necessary
because it helps to maintain an adequate balance in people. In people who are
under treatment with addictions, it helps from a regularization at a social, family
and personal level. Thus, the recovery of the patients isn’t only focused on a
modification of behavior and administration of medicine but also on the state
emotional of the person. The health workers have the obligation to help people
addicts. The topics we will talk about are the types of drugs and treatments.

Drugs, alcohol and other substances disrupts physical and mental ability
severely. All the substances can be classified into three main groups:
Depressors, Stimulants and Disturbancers. Depressant drugs decrease the
function of the central nervous system, for example: alcohol, heroin and
morphine. Stimulant drugs accelerate the responses and cause a state of high
activation, such as cocaine and amphetamines. Disturbing drugs alter brain
functions, for example: LSD, cannabis. It’s important to know the most common
types of drugs or substances and how they affect in the body and mental health.

Research on the treatment of substance use disorders has led to the

development of research-based methods that help people to stop using drugs
and resume productive lives. There are many options that have been successful
in treating drug addiction, including: behavioral counseling, medication, treatment
for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and medical devices
used to treat with drawal symptoms, follow up to prevent relapse. We shouldn´t
forget that it is important for the treatment to include medical and mental health
services to achieve balance in the person

Drug addiction is a chronic disease characterized by compulsive, or

uncontrollable. The most patients need long-term or repeated care to stop using
completely and recover their lives. The effects of addiction produce devastating
complications and should improve understanding of drug abuse and treatment.
This will serve in the future for prevention in the physical and mental health of our
society.
