INTRODUCTION TO CONCEPT

Our topic is based on environment, something which would help the

environment and use its resources to the fullest.
Our project is on scavenging energy from noise produced in the
environment. This won’t reduce pollution, but would help reuse the
waste.
Now a days we come across many such places where the noise
produced in not bare able. So what if we can produce an electric
current through this noise.
Noise is nothing but high frequency sound waves. And we all know
that sound is a mechanical energy. So this energy can be
transformed from one form to another, hence electric.

pg. 2
OBSERVATION PHASE

 In our day to day life we are facing many problems due to the
different types of pollution created by different people and by
different means though different mediums.
 among the different types of pollutions there are four major
pollution includes water , air , soil ,water and noise.
 from all four types of pollution water air and soil pollution can
be controlled but noise pollution is almost not controllable.
 so first we decide to control noise pollution by using sound
absorbing materials but it is not use full at all the places and all
the time in marriage hall and in festivals we cannot control
noise pollution .
 from noise pollution old age group people and mentally
disturbed people are disturbed very badly .
 at last we found that its able to control noise pollution up to
some extent but it's not remarkable .
 now we thought it's not able to control noise pollution so we
thought to convert sound energy from noise pollution in to use
full electrical energy
 so we decide to make a device that can convert sound energy to
electrical energy
 we found that this is possible due to the law of conservation of
energy :
"energy can neither be created nor be destroyed it is
converted from one form to another "

pg. 3
ACTIVITY FRAMEWORK
At first we all thought about the topic on which we wanted to make
the project. After some discussion we came to a domain which is the
very reason why we are able to exist in this world,
“ENVIRONMENT”.

 Find Different Methods Of Reusing Energy : here we thought

how we can re use the waste energy and convert it in to a use
full form

pg. 4
 implementing renewable energies in day to day life: to
encourage the use of renewable energy sources in our daily
life.
 Conserving non renewable energies : here we are reducing the
use of non renewable energy sources.

 block diagram for generation of electricity from sun.

 here it refers to the surroundings of the domain or the
atmospheric conditions of the domain .

 located outside city :all the solar farms and wind farms are
located outside or away from city.
 huge land space required: all the wind farms and solar farms
are speeded over a large area so more energy can be generated
 located where resources are easily available :these are located
where land and labor and other resources are easily available.

 these types of energy sources require large amount of initial

investment.

 recruitment procedure: we discussed wit teachers and our

seniors on the different topics.
 seniors direct juniors :our seniors gave us information about
different domains which are still the topic of research.
 transfer of energy from industry to other :we also interacted
wit many small scale industrialist they also discussed their
problems with us which helped us in selecting our domain.

pg. 5
OBJECT

 here all the objects that are related to our domain are
mentioned.

 solar panels :solar panels are glass plates that are made of
dielectric the convert light energy into voltage.
 turbines: turbines are use in hydral power plants to generate
electrical energy.
 wind mills : wind mills are machine that converts wind energy
to electrical energy.
 energy storing devices: energy storing devices are used to store
energy that is once generated

 quartz crystal : these crystal has an property that can convert

electric energy to vibrations and vice versa.

USER
 In these sheet we decide the users of the product .
 government : government can use these on roads where traffic
is more and hence noise pollution is also there.
 wedding planners : wedding planners use these since in
functions and marriages sound pollution is much.
 industries: they can use these in the place where very large
amount of unwanted sound (noise) is produced .
 disco theques : in disco theques very large amount of noise is
produced so we can convert these into useful form

pg. 6
CHAPTER:-1 EMPATHY CANVAS
In Empathy canvas we thought about a specific topic on which we
could make the project on. In empathy canvas we have to select one
user and note down his activities and all the things he is connected
with.

pg. 7
pg. 8
1.1 DECIDING FOR WHOME CANVAS IS TO BE DESIGNED
At first we all sat down and thought about the topic on which we
wanted to make the canvas on. After some discussion we came to a
topic which is the very reason why we are able to exist in this world,
“ENVIRONMENT”.
We all know how the environment has given all the essential things
to us. So we decided we will do something innovative that will be
helpful to our environment.

1.2 DECIDING THE USER

So, our Empathy canvas is designed for Environment. Now we

wanted a particular user on which the canvas would be made. So,
further discussion took place and the user we found was us ourselves
i.e. “Student”.

1.3 STAKE HOLDERS

 PARENTS :-
All the students are connected to their parents. Parents play an
important role in a student’s life.
 SIBLINGS :-
Brothers and sisters are also an important part of a student’s
life. They help in motivating the student and also form
competition to a level.

pg. 9
 TEACHERS :-
Teachers are the main part of the student’s life. Without
teacher there is no student. All that a student is made by a
teacher.

 FRIENDS:-
Friends are the most important part of student’s life, out of
their whole day maximum time is spent with friends.

 JANITORS:-
Janitors are given the least importance by everyone but they
play a major role in student’s life for keeping the school, toilets
clean and hygienic.

1.4 ACTIVITIES

 WAKE UP EARLY :-
A student must wake up early in the morning, waking up early
has proven to be good for health by science.

 GOING TO SCHOOL/COLLEGE:-
This is the second house of a student. It is the place where he
learn all about life which helps in his progress.

pg. 10
 SPORTS ACTIVITIES:-
Sports are also important for a student. Only studies don’t
make a student complete. A student must know to play at least
one of the sport.

 DOING HOME WORK:-

Studies only in school is not important, he must also revise and
study in home too.

 ATTENDING SOCIAL FUNCTIONS:-Attending social activities is

also important as a student increases his social skills.

1.5 STORY BOARDING

Now came the story boarding, we made few sad and happy story
about a student life. And selected the 2 best sad and 2 best happy
story to write it on our canvas.

HAPPY STORY

STORY 1

The government has recently launched the 'Clean India ' campaign
which is the brain child of our prime minister shri Narendra Modi.
under these campaign ,it is the moral responsibility of the citizens of
the country to keep there surroundings clean and its effect are there

pg. 11
to see. it is the step taken for our country's development and to save
our environment.

STORY 2

When Swine flu was spread in the city, many people were effected
people those who cannot afford the treatment were helped by
government by providing free medicine, mask etc. Vaccines to other
people were also provided at the subsidiary rates.

SAD STORY
STORY 1

A boy had mate with a road accident in hit and run case in which he
was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital were doctors
refused to treat him before the arrival of police. It was shocking to
see that though the law has been passed to treat the patients before
the arrival of the police. it was not implemented.

STORY 2:- Government was helpless during the hijacking of Indian

airlines flight IC814 they had to release the 3 terrorists which were
accused in the 1993 Mumbai terror attacks.

pg. 12
CHAPTER 2: IDEATION CANVAS

After completing our empathy canvas on a student, we went further

to the Ideation canvas. In this canvas we thought about how can we
make innovative improvements in environment and as well as in the
life of a student.

pg. 13
FIGURE 8: IDEATION CANVAS

2.1 PEOPLE

 COMMON PEOPLE
 BUILDERS
 TRANSPORT
COMPANIES
 INDUSTRIALISTS
 WEDDING PLANNERS

pg. 14
2.2 ACTIVITIES

 COMMON PEOPLE:-
Common people are very much responsible in spreading
pollution, we throw garbage on road, destroy water bodies, etc.

 BUILDERS:-
Builders are responsible for pollutions like noise in
construction site, throwing harmful chemicals on land.

 INDUSTRIALISTS:-
These are responsible for majority of pollution spread
throughout the world. Industries release harmful gases which
results in many harmful effect on living beings.

 WEDDING PLANNERS:-
The only problem in a wedding is the noise produced by the
speakers and by the band person.

 AIRCRAFTS:-
Aircraft are widely been used as a mode of transportation in
the world. But these planes release harmful gases in the
environment and produce harmful amount of noise.

pg. 15
These all activities led to increase of pollution in different ways.
Some lead to air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution, and on.

2.3 POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

 By using CNG instead of fossil fuels  Use paper bags.

 Water treatment plants
 Green revolution
 Using good quality silencer in bikes

pg. 16
CHAPTER 3: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
CANVAS
In this canvas we describe our product and how the product can be
developed with different components. We also noted down the
problems that can come and tried to find its problem.

pg. 17
FIGURE 12: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CANVAS

3.1 DECIDING DEVICE

Now after looking in the problem, we had to make a device which

can be useful for our environment, in reducing pollution.
After a few discussions about the topic we came to a point that
rather than doing something for controlling pollution, why we don’t
think of a device that can convert the waste energy into some useful
energy.
So amongst the types of pollutions we decided that we would try
thinking of a device which would convert the sound energy into
electrical energy.

pg. 18
Noise is very troublesome for a student and as well as the
environment. So instead of reducing this pollution, we thought of
making it more useful from a harmful energy.

3.2 PEOPLE

 BUILDERS
Builders can use this device at their construction sites so that
the sound produced can be reused in form of electrical energy.

 INDUSTRIALISTS
There is a lot of noise produced in industries in machines. This
noise can be used to work low voltage machines.

 MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS
Government can use this device at traffic signals, street lights
to light up the bulbs with the noise produced on the street.

 AIRLINE COMPANIES
There is a lot of amount of noise produced in jets. This can be
used to use in lights in the airplane.

 DISCO THEQUES
The device can be placed in front of speakers of the discos. So
that energy can be produced with it.

pg. 19
 WEDDING PLANNERS
Same as the discos device can be placed in front of the noise
emitter to help generate electric energy.

 COMMON PEOPLE
People can place this device outside their homes, inside
drawing rooms, where noise is produced.

But only awareness is not enough, we must take some action to this
situation.
Hence we thought of this device.
Now this sound energy travels in the form of wave. And waves
contain mechanical power. Hence when it travels through a medium
it will disturb the particles of the medium. And hence electricity can
be produced.

3.3 PRODUCT EXPERIENCE

 EVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY

FIGURE 14: PRODUCT EXPERIENCE

3.4 PRODUCT FUNCTIONS

 ENERGY UTILIZATION
 USEFUL WHERE NOISE REDUCTION IS NOT POSSIBLE
 CREATES BEST OUT OF WASTE

ACOUSTIC NOISE TO ELECTRICITY (BLOCK DIAGRAM)

ACOUSTIC NOISE TO ELECTRICITY(CIRCUIT DIAGRAM)

pg. 22
OBJECTIVES

 To assume a circuit using piezo electric that will absorb the noise
and convert acostic to a approximate 2-3v electrical energy .

 To evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of noise.

 To optimize the hidden benefits form the noise pollution.

 To introduce a renewable to the community with the use of sound

that has always been overlooked by the researchers.

pg. 23
CONCLUSION

After few days when the canvases were over, we were able to find a
lot of problems in our environment which needed to be solved.
We tried to solve one problem with our ideas, which we think would
definitely solve a problem and help make the world a better place.
One problem that we faced during making the canvases, was that we
didn’t have enough knowledge about many topics. So making this
project at this time was not much productive.
