The Silence
Introduction

The problem of violence has been since I can remember and it does not just mean

killing someone, but we find it all the time as if it were the bread of every day in different

situations and areas. ¿How can we start to turn this problem around? In the following lines I

will tell you because for me the violence is due to the lack of education, of opportunities

and the polarization that we live by not respecting the diverse opinions about the

transcendental topics that most benefit our communities. I will focus as in recent years my

country Colombia, has been marked by violence in political differences and the

consequences that the performance of some officials of the country has left when it comes

to leading and making decisions that affect a whole people. Many times, people must be

silent and accept these decisions, but on the contrary, it is submitted to the abuses of their

fundamental rights and sometimes to pay with their owns lifes to defend their just causes.

Death of Social Leaders

In less than a year have been killed "317 social leaders in Colombia" have been

killed according to the report published by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and

Forensic Sciences. (AGENCIA EFE,2019) "83% of the homicides were against leaders of

the community action boards, peasants, indigenous people, communities and black

communities," this alarming figure is announced by the Ombudsman, Carlos Negret, who

argued that "early warnings are not to be controvert or controversial". (España Pantoja,

2019). The main cause to have to regret today the loss of these people who fought to protect

their communities and defend just causes it is the intolerance and the lack of presence and
volition of the State in these regions and not blame other people's duties and

responsibilities.
