Subject: Request for Remission of Fine

Sir,
With due modesty, it is stated that I am a regular student of intermediate part-I of this
esteemed institution.
I feel regretted to bring your kind attention to the matter that I have been fined 1000/-
Rs by my teachers for remaining absent from my classes for a week during the current month. I
assure you, sir, that I was not absent without any reason.
I fell ill and was suffering from fever. I was taken to a doctor who, considering it Malaria,
gave me some medicine which I used for 2 days and felt a bit better. But I could not fully recover
from fever. I was taken to city hospital where my blood tests were carried out and I was
diagnosed with Typhoid fever. The doctor prescribed me the necessary medicine and advised me
to take complete rest for a week. Therefore, I missed my classes.
I belong to a middle-class family. My father is a farmer who works to the sweat of his
brow to meet the ever-increasing expenses of our family. He has to support a large and combined
family. A great chunk of his income gets spent on the medicine of my grand-father who is living
on medicines nowadays. My younger brothers and sisters are also studying in schools, so he has
to manage their fee as well. Moreover, a large sum has been spent on my illness during this
month. Under these circumstances, it will be very hard for him to pay my fine.
Sir, I got 90% marks in my matric exams and I am enrolled in super section of the
premedical group of this college. I want to study hard to come up to the expectations of my family
as well as to bring good name to this college.
My house is situated far away from this college. It takes me at least one hour to reach
here by a bus. There was no one around to bring my application to the college. Therefore, I could
not inform in time.
It is, therefore, very earnestly and humbly requested to you to please remit my fine
immediately so that I may study with full focus and peace of mind. I do hope that you will consider
my request on humanitarian ground as well.
