Feedback on pre-service teacher performance in the classroom

Pre-service teacher _____________________

Breana Spencer Year 4 Week 6
Standard 1: Know the students and how they learn.
She has created activities that are levelled to each learning need and assisted students on the mat and
one-on-one to pin point a learning target. She has also identified when students may start to act out
and addressed their behaviour.

Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it.

Bree has researched her content before teaching it and delivers it in a concise manner. If needed has
clarified students who are struggling or if the direction of the lesson needs to change.

Standard 3: Plan for, and implement for effective teaching and learning.
Bree continuously plans and implements an engaging and effective lesson in all the learning topics she
teaches. Her workload is slowly increasing and is following up on lessons that need to be finished.

Standard 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments.

Bree has taken on board the feedback regarding behaviour management and is beginning to target
student behaviour before it becomes a larger issue. The students are responding well to her which
comes back to her developing relationships with them. The students work quietly when asked and
strive to impress her. She has implemented her own behaviour management and reward strategy.

Standard 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning.

Bree is to be commended on her assessment that provides an accurate reflection of student learning.
She has asked for feedback regarding the format of her assessment to make it quicker and easier.

Focus for next observation:

Behaviour management showing your emotions and disappointment.
Wait time after asking a question to let it sink in.
