You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for

New York is a big city in


the United States (North
America). It takes
thousand of visitors every
year. The city has a
population of around 8
million people. There is a
lot to see and do in New
York. You can visit the
Central Park, the
Metropolian museum and
New York (USA) – The Statue of Liberty Time’s Square. In the
picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a
monumet built between
1875 and 1986. It is 93
meters tall. The statue is
located on Liberty Island
in the Hudson River.

Rome is a beautiful city


located in the country of
Italy , famous for its prized
pizzas and pastas account
other with a huge square
located directly opposite St.
Peter's Basilica in Vatican
City , the papal enclave
within Rome, right west of
the neighborhood or rione
of Borgo . In the center of
Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square the square is an Egyptian

authorised work to begin in
1958 with Utzon directing
construction. The
government's decision to
build Utzon's design is often
overshadowed by
circumstances that
followed, including cost and
scheduling overruns as well
as the architect's ultimate
resignation.[5]
The building and its
surrounds occupy the whole
Edinburgh is the capital
city of Scotland, located

Castle Rock. Archaeologists
have established human
occupation of the rock since
at least the Iron Age (2nd
century AD), although the
nature of the early
settlement is unclear. There
has been a royal castle on
the rock since at least the
reign ofDavid I in the 12th
century, and the site
continued to be a royal
residence until the Union of
the Crowns in 1603.
Dubai is one of the seven
emirates that make up the
United Arab Emirates -EAU-
. It is located on the coast of
the Persian Gulf in the
Arabian desert , and on the
south with the emirate of
Abu Dhabi, with Sharjah in
the northeast and through
the exclave Hatta , with the
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj Sultanate of Oman in the
Khalifa southeast and the emirates
of Ajman and Ras al-
Khaimah. The incoming
saltwater called Khawr
Dubayy Persian Gulf
through the capital city in
northeast- southwest
direction Construction of the
Burj Khalifa began in 2004,
with the exterior completed
in 2009. The primary
structure is reinforced
concrete. The building was
opened in 2010 as part of a
new development
called Downtown Dubai. It
is designed to be the
centerpiece of large-scale,
mixed-use development.
The decision to build the
building is reportedly based
on the government's
decision to diversify from an
oil-based economy, and for
Dubai to gain international
recognition. The building
was named in honor of the
ruler of Abu Dhabiand
president of the United Arab
Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed
Al Nahyan; Abu Dhabi and
the UAE government lent
Dubai money to pay its
debts. The building broke
numerous height records.
