exceeding 110,000 d.w.t. loaded to a maximum draft of 12.5 m. Berthing on first of ebb with tankers over LOA 198 m.
Mooring: At Kipevu, tankers normally berth starboard side to at slack tide, on the beginning of the ebb. Masters should
assist Pilots to moor as quickly as possible, in view of the abeam current in a direction off the jetty, which is created by the
jetty causeway configuration. This current will increase with the ebb tide and ships with all wire moorings are advised to
send their first-ropes-ashore with priority. Mooring launches are low powered and can only handle one wire at a time;
mooring dolphins are not fitted with winches and require manual handling of wires. In view of the above, and in view of the
accurate positioning required to connect to chiksan arms, it is vital that the ship be brought against the breasting dolphins
as soon as possible.
In cases where vessel's mooring is delayed, Pilots may require extra tugs to assist in keeping the ship alongside.
Fuel: Only fuel oil of viscosity of 1500–3500 secs. available. Fuel oil viscosity below 1500 secs. not available. At least 3 days'
clear notice required for arranging bunker delivery. Not possible to deliver any marine diesel or gas oil either ex pipeline or

vegetable oil as well as petroleum products, such as mogas, jet A1 and gasoline. LPG also handled. Storage capacity
