M14 flat washer 24 units
M14 grower washer 12 units

Lightning arrester set 1 units

2) UNPACKING THE TRISECTOR ANTENNA.

Extract the antenna from the shipping crate by means of a bar and slings as shown
below. Since some models can be heavy (>100 Kg) a small crane may be needed. Please
have in mind that Trisector Antennas are very fragile equipment that has to be handled
very carefully.

WARNING¡:
The radome of the antenna is made of fiberglass. Please pay close attention to the
figures below.

- NEVER HOLD THE ANTENNA FROM THE RADOME.

- NEVER PRESS OVER THE RADOME.
- NEVER LEAVE THE ANTENNA LAYING FLAT ON THE FLOOR
The Trisector antenna can be left standing on its three legs on a levelled flat surface
(provided no strong wind is blowing that may make the antenna fall down).
3) UNPACKING THE EQUIPMENT AREA.

The equipment area is sturdy enough to be handled by any person. Care must be taken
to avoid the service area being hit accidentally.

The photograph below shows an inner view of the Equipment Area.

Equipment Area’s bottom flange. The six curved slots allow an easy fine azimuth
adjustment of the Trisector Antenna system when installed on a flanged pole.

The photograph below shows the antenna equipment once installed on the equipment
area.
4) OPTIONAL PIPE ADAPTER-HOLDER.

The Equipment Area can be installed over the pipe adapter-holder. The Trisector can be
attached easily to the corner of a lattice tower by means of brackets.
5) ATTACHMENT OF THE PIPE ADAPTER TO THE EQUIPMENT AREA.

The pipe adapter must be attached to the equipment area by means of 12 bolts M14x45,
24 flat washers and 12 grower washers as shown below. Make sure all nuts and bolts are
properly tightened.
6) ATTACHMENT OF THE TRISECTOR ANTENNA TO THE EQUIPMENT
AREA.

The Trisector antenna is attached to the Equipment Area by means of 3 legs located at
its bottom end.

During the installation the 3 legs have to be made coincident with the 3 holders located
on the Equipment Area.
Place the Trisector carefully on top of the equipment area making sure that the
Equipment Area holders and the Trisector legs are coincident.
Use the 6 bolts M12x40, the 12 flat washers and the 6 grower washers supplied to attach
the 3 legs of the Trisector Antenna to the Equipment Area as shown below. Make sure
every nut and bolt are properly tightened.
7) INSTALLATION OF THE REMOTE CONTROL UNITS (RCUs) ON THE
SIDE BY SIDE AND TRIBAND TRISECTOR ANTENNAS.

SIDE BY SIDE:

The Side-By-Side antennas have the RCU on both ends of the base.

WARNING:

CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO INSTALL THE RCUs EXACTLY AS SHOWN

IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS AHEAD.

TRIBAND AND DUALBAND:

The photograph below shows a triband antenna trisector using Kathrein Antenna
models 80010292v02
Install the RCUs on their places as shown below.

(Note: The RCUs are installed on a similar way on the Dualband Antennas).

QUADBAND:

The photograph below shows a quadband antenna trisector using Kathrein Antenna
model 80010685v01.

Install the RCUs on their places as shown below.

8) SETTING THE AZIMUTH OF THE INDIVIDUAL SECTORS.

The sectors can be orientated within a ±10º range from the centre (0º). The setting of the
azimuth of a Side-By-Side antenna will be shown as an example. (The procedure is
similar for the Dual, Triband and Tetraband antennas).

1) Release the brake of the panel antenna by using a 13mm spanner as shown below.

2) Set the desired azimuth by moving the panel antenna left to right or vice-versa as
shown in the photograph.

The black arrow points at the correct azimuth setting.

Example 1: The photograph below shows +7 degree setting.

Example 2: The photograph below shows -0.5 degree setting.

Fasten the brake firmly to prevent the panel antenna from breaking loose.
Fasten the 3 central bolts also as shown in the figure.

9) MANUAL TILT SETTING.

If no RCUs are used the down tilt of a specific sector can also be set manually (within
the physical range of every antenna model) by rotating the TILT KNOB wheel. The tilt
scale will be coming out showing the Tilt at which the antenna is set.

The photograph shows the antenna set at Tilt 4.

10) MECHANICAL DATA.

Below are the drawings of both the bottom flange of the Equipment Area and the Pipe
Adapter. These drawings will be useful if the user wants to attach the Trisector to
supporting structures designed or made by its own approved manufacturers.
