Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher will begin the lesson by asking the students what they know about World War II. The teacher
will then ask the students what were the main countries involved in the war and who were the leaders of
those countries . The teacher will introduce the goals, standards and objectives for the unit.
The teacher will begin the lesson with a short video from educationdiscovery.com,
https://app.discoveryeducation.com/learn/videos/6dbcbdfa-5f7e-44fb-82b6-012aa81d550b/. The video will
introduce the students to the countries and their leaders that were involved in the war. After the video the
class will engage in discourse about the video and the teacher will ask the students to identify what countries
joined together in the war and they will be assigned to the proper sides (allies and axis). As the class is
engaged in this lesson the teacher will be preparing an anchor chart on an easel pad. After the class and
teacher have assigned the countries to the proper sides in the war they will proceed on to discuss the leaders
of those countries. The leaders of the countries will be placed on the anchor chart below the respective
countries.
The students will then go to the Popplet site and fill in the mind-map/graphic organizer of the leaders of
WW II. The students will be required to use the provided word bank and assign the correct leaders to the
countries involved in WW II. After doing this the student will have a complete mind-map of the main sides,
countries and leaders from WW II.

Reflective Practice:
This lesson idea was designed to give the students an introduction into the primary sides and the leaders of
the sides of World War II. As an extension of the lesson and only after the chart is finished, the class will be
divided into groups with each group being assigned one of the leaders from the anchor chart. The group will
be charged with putting together an introduction to the assigned leader using the technology of their choice.
Once finished, the students will present their project to the entire class for a group grade.
