Lam the Secretary for our Buckhalts Volunteer Fire Department and we are
concerned about the misleading statements being made about our
department and the Little River VFD and the Mayor feud. Here is a
clarification | sent to KMIL radia in Cameron.
Officers of our Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department want to clarify several
misleading news stories going around that alludes our BVFD took/stole
equipment and fire trucks from the Little River Academy Fire Station. We
were contacted by LRA FD on Wednesday, June 26 that they had some
bunker gear to donate to us. After work two of our officers went to check it
out. Upon arrival our two members indicated a concern that things seemed
"strange" with what was going on. It was then that they suggested an offer
to provide additional equipment and even a fire truck. We were not aware
that they were planning to disband the department.
Returning back inside our members began to load some of the used bunker
gear that they were wanting to donate. It was at that time that the Mayor of
LRA arrived and confronted our two members and threatened them for
stealing and he would have them arrested. Our two members had no idea
what was happening. The bunker gear was unloaded and they returned
home. We went there in one vehicle not trucks as stated. We got caught in
the middle of a feud that degraded our department with accusations of
theft of equipment and fire trucks. Those are blatant lies and our
department works hard for donations to provide fire protection to our
area, Whatever war they have going on in LRA should not have falsely
accused our BVFD. They contacted us. We did not contact them.
