The Effectivness of Using Edmodo to Teach Writing

Writing is an activity creat an idea or imagination that we have in paper or


something, like short story or can be descriptive or narative text and with this
we can communicate our idea with other person. This assumption supported by
Burhan Nurgiyantoro (2010 : 296) writing is the ability to express ideas to others,
with written. And same with Mohammad Yunus and Suparno ( 2009 : 1-11)
writing is expressing or convey ide and write the imagination in write. So as a
teacher we must can encourage students to create new idea in a product of
written. But we must give a interesting process learning to our students, it will
make students enjoy at learning process of writing. based on some expert in this
paper the writer will discuss about the process of writing, how create students
edmodo account and the advantages of edmodo.

for the first we will discuss about the process of writing. process mean
like a step how the students can make a good product. The students must follow
the step one by one, it will be make the process easy. According to Oshima (1-15)
the proces of academic writing have 3 stages, the stage 1 prewriting , stage II
planning and the stage III is writing and revising draft. Let we discussion about
the stages. In the first stage the students must choose a topic, after that students
must collect the data from the brainstorming activity. The second stage is
planning or outlining its activity devided into 3 parts, first parts is make list from
the brainstorming and second parts is Write down the topic sentences and the third
is make an outline from all information when prewriting. For the last stage is
writing and revising drafts. In this stage oshima devided into 4 parts. First parts is
write first rought drafts, the second is revising content and organizing, the third is
proofreading the second drafts the end of the activity students can make a final
copy. In short all the stage must students follow to make their written to be good.
For the second we will discuss about how to create students edmodo
account. “ Edmodo” is social Networking and micro blogging service designed
specifically for the word of education, by restriction access to special spaces or
groups, teachers and students can send notes, links, files, announcements,
assighments and exchange information in safe environtment Charles Wankel (
2011:24). Its mean edmodo can make students and teacher more close in learning
process because edmodo make easy when learning proceed. According
Rismayanti (2012 : 2) to create students edmodo account is have 5 stage. From
this assumtion the way for creat new account the first is students must have email
address. After that students go to www.edmodo.com and select i’m students and
than fill the information account with students email address and their username
and password. After that change their profile picture in the blank profile and add
students picture, and finally students have new acount admodo. For the Next
teacher will give students group code, usually the code is 6 digit. After that if
students will check group account look at the left of menu bar. In group account
students can see many facilities like library, assighment and others menu in
edmodo bar. In short edmodo have a menu bar its can make students get new
information.

For the third we will disccus about the advantages of apllication


Edmodo. teachers must give fun process education so with edmodo students can
enjoy their process education. Therefore Shelly Gary (2001:6-54) In edmodo have
many feature can make student enjoy like can see library, share link and images
and etc and can discussion with other students. Edmodo can make special network
for teachers and students to share ideas, files, events and tasks. Using Edmodo
among students provides various conveninces. Edmodo can help teachers in
making news in grops or giving tests online Shelly Gary ( 2011:6-45). Its means
if the teachers can give assesment or make disscusion if students can comes to the
class. furthemore Charles Wankle ( 2011:26) Another advantages is easy to send
files, images, videos and links. In other word teacher not difficult to share the
topic of material because students can see and download in Edmodo.
In the last of learning process teacher usually make an evaluation. This
activity can make correction from learning process and students can repair their
writen product. Suharsimi state (2012 : 19) : evaluating process fungtionate to
know the weaknesses and find the way to know about the solution. this activity
suppose students to interaction with teacher about students weaknesses. Teacher
must give feedback to students in order to can explore new idea. The conclusion is
teachers as a instructor give inducement till students can make good written.
